How many times have you beaten System Shock 2? Have you tried all the different kinds of builds?

Ive lost count a long time ago but ive probably played the base game 40 or so times, not counting secmod, FMs or now the remaster i guess. My favorite build is the energy only build where you carry a bunch of laser pistols set to overcharge so you can fire another shot as fast as you can swap between them, plus the obligatory Rapier and EMP rifle

I have never tried that laser pistol swapping exploit. I've done playthroughs for energy, psi, heavy, standard, exotic, melee only. I wonder how fucked a pacifist (as much as possible) run would be, probably pretty ass until you get the invisibility spell.

There was a guy back during ss2's lets play era in the early 2010's, ShephardReborn, who did a pacifist run of SS2. Iirc, he makes it up until Ops where the game requires you to start killing specific enemies to progress (malick's assassins, Korenchkin, the black eggs, ect)

Wait for the remaster to get a few patches. A lot of people are reporting bugs and crashing with co-op. That said it's still probably more stable than the original's co-op which was barely functional.

I only beat it once. Didn't feel it was that interesting of a game. It's probably because I tried to do mostly PSI and the game utterly fucked me, so that left me feeling the game is a lot shallower than it appears.

What difficulty? Psi on Impossible difficulty for example requires a lot of specialization and ignoring stats and misc non-psi skills, I'd usually only recommend an OSA playthrough for someone who has beaten the game multiple times but hasn't tried it. Navy is the best jack of all trades that lets you experiment the most and use a variety of skills.

Yeah this sucks. New design is still good though but the kimono was much cooler. This one feels a bit sterile and it looks more like it belongs in the SS1 remake. Also yeah, as the OSA archetype you're stuck holding your grey ball the entire game, occasionally you can pull out your psi blade which is just a generic melee weapon that looks different to the wrench and crystal shard. Using the other weapons is way more interesting and fun than ice balls, fire balls, psi blade and utility spells.

What else is there apart from the EMP Rifle? The EMP Rifle absolutely fucks the big robots but by design does nothing to the many fleshies in the game. You're not meant to use the EMP Rifle on anything but robotic enemies.

I've started on hard but even though I'm focusing on hacking I keep finding shit way beyond my hacking skill while being ultra cucked in every other area as result.

Ice picks are not required but they do make it like 300% easier. Doing the needful without the ice picks is actually challenging.

It really is sexless and boring compared to the original. Look at that art you posted and see how big her mammaries are. I guess it doesn't really make a whole lot of sense for her to be larping as a human woman with boobies when she thinks the human race are insect scum. You could maybe justify it with her seducing people to do her will (SS1 Diego, Delacroix, Polito, Soldier) by appearing as a sexy goddess with big bazongas in a kimono. The original SS2 model probably had the intention of boobs on it even if it's hard to make out, the new model has no distinct features at all from the neck down.

Idk, it's not totally out there that big evil cyberpunk corpo TriOp would try to make another SHODAN happen (this time on purpose... for military reasons or something idk) at a blacksite, after seeing how fucked citadel station got by unleashing her without ethical restraints. But it would have been set between SS1 and SS2 and had no impact at all on the events of SS2 so it by definition would not have been SS3, but an interquel.

I think that was a different pitch for SS3. Afaik the Otherside TriOp blacksite SS3 was set between 1 & 2 as I said, so it wouldn't have made sense for the Soldier to appear as he hasn't even gone to Tau Ceti yet. I think the blacksite setting was chosen partly because it could plausibly not be mentioned at all by anyone in SS2 despite it happening before that game. The pitch with both the hacker and soldier showing up was (I believe) something else, or maybe a variant where it is actually set after SS2 (involving human hybrid shodan?)

Reminder that Nightdive fixed SS2's biggest plot hole by mentioning wormholes in the remake of SS1.
