Ive lost count a long time ago but ive probably played the base game 40 or so times, not counting secmod, FMs or now the remaster i guess. My favorite build is the energy only build where you carry a bunch of laser pistols set to overcharge so you can fire another shot as fast as you can swap between them, plus the obligatory Rapier and EMP rifle

I have never tried that laser pistol swapping exploit. I've done playthroughs for energy, psi, heavy, standard, exotic, melee only. I wonder how fucked a pacifist (as much as possible) run would be, probably pretty ass until you get the invisibility spell.

There was a guy back during ss2's lets play era in the early 2010's, ShephardReborn, who did a pacifist run of SS2. Iirc, he makes it up until Ops where the game requires you to start killing specific enemies to progress (malick's assassins, Korenchkin, the black eggs, ect)

Wait for the remaster to get a few patches. A lot of people are reporting bugs and crashing with co-op. That said it's still probably more stable than the original's co-op which was barely functional.

I only beat it once. Didn't feel it was that interesting of a game. It's probably because I tried to do mostly PSI and the game utterly fucked me, so that left me feeling the game is a lot shallower than it appears.

What difficulty? Psi on Impossible difficulty for example requires a lot of specialization and ignoring stats and misc non-psi skills, I'd usually only recommend an OSA playthrough for someone who has beaten the game multiple times but hasn't tried it. Navy is the best jack of all trades that lets you experiment the most and use a variety of skills.

Yeah this sucks. New design is still good though but the kimono was much cooler. This one feels a bit sterile and it looks more like it belongs in the SS1 remake. Idk why they couldn't just make it more accurate, every other design they did is spot on but this one is completely different and worse because of it

Also yeah, as the OSA archetype you're stuck holding your grey ball the entire game, occasionally you can pull out your psi blade which is just a generic melee weapon that looks different to the wrench and crystal shard. Using the other weapons is way more interesting and fun than ice balls, fire balls, psi blade and utility spells.

Occam's razor says it was probably just incompetence or misdirection. Like the game director tells the art guy "make her like in the remake we just did" instead of making her like she is in SS2 originally. Though a cynic might say that she was changed because she has a white voice actress and the character is a caucasian type of character so her wearing a kimono is cultural appropriation and racism, or something. I hope it's not some retarded shit like that. She's meant to be a weeb.

We don't know why it happened so it's retarded to get mad about literal made up reasons for why it may have happened. Just be mad about the shit design.

Btw the fact that they changed her face/head to the SS1 remake design points towards the first possibility you mentioned (but that doesn't exclude the possibility of them deliberately getting rid of the kimono either)

Hard is not a difficulty.
Play it on Normal like a normal player or on Impossibru when things will be too easy.
You are supposed to return back to these locked crates, especially lvl 6 ones.
DO NOT REDEEM ICE PICKS. DO NOT. PICKLE THEM. YOU WILL NEED THEM AT THE VERY LAST MOMENT.

The dragon dildos in Arx Fatalis that you can throw into a pool of lava 9 hours before you realize you need them to open the final door is a whole different kettle of fish.

It really is sexless and boring compared to the original. Look at that art you posted and see how big her mammaries are. I guess it doesn't really make a whole lot of sense for her to be larping as a human woman with boobies when she thinks the human race are insect scum. You could maybe justify it with her seducing people to do her will (SS1 Diego, Delacroix, Polito, Soldier) by appearing as a sexy goddess with big bazongas in a kimono. The original SS2 model probably had the intention of boobs on it even if it's hard to make out, the new model has no distinct features at all from the neck down.

Said studio probably has all their old shit in their 20 year old drives and archives. LGS dying took all that shit with them and Nightdive were basically just working on what they do have.

She's in all the marketing, you were probably just meant to think she was up to her old tricks with mutant experiments like in the first game and that she was the big bad responsible (I mean I guess she still is) for the many taking over the ship, not that her experiments went rogue and she wants them dead as much as you do. It is a little let down by xerxes and the many constantly telling you the deck 4 reveal.

So if the rumors are true, Nightdive wants to get the rights for SS3 back from Tencent so they can make it themselves. I hope they go with human hybrid SHODAN sequel and not the offshoot SHODAN at a triop blacksite shit that Otherside were working on.
>freely donated the sequel rights to Warren Spector and Otherside in hopes they'd do it justice
>their Underworld game is ass and flops and the company goes under
>instead of giving the sequel rights back the jew sells them on to Tencent and sells Otherside Entertainment to crypto bros
Stephen Kuck probably seethed and malded hard after finding out SS3 (and I believe SS4) rights were sold to Tencent after he graciously gave them away.

They don't have the talent to do it justice, hell the original creator was going to basically just fuck it's shit up, give it to me, you will get to fuck Shodan if I get to make it, well she will fuck you, but nonetheless.

Idk, it's not totally out there that big evil cyberpunk corpo TriOp would try to make another SHODAN happen (this time on purpose... for military reasons or something idk) at a blacksite, after seeing how fucked citadel station got by unleashing her without ethical restraints. But it would have been set between SS1 and SS2 and had no impact at all on the events of SS2 so it by definition would not have been SS3, but an interquel.

I think that was a different pitch for SS3. Afaik the Otherside TriOp blacksite SS3 was set between 1 & 2 as I said, so it wouldn't have made sense for the Soldier to appear as he hasn't even gone to Tau Ceti yet. I think the blacksite setting was chosen partly because it could plausibly not be mentioned at all by anyone in SS2 despite it happening before that game. The pitch with both the hacker and soldier showing up was (I believe) something else, or maybe a variant where it is actually set after SS2 (involving human hybrid shodan?)

Ii would call it less scary and more stressful. Id get the occasional jump scare from a screaming zombie cyborg charging at me sure, but the respawning guys did do a pretty good job of creating an oppressive atmosphere where you really dont feel safe anywhere, at least it was like that on my first playthrough.

Nah, by the time you finish the first level it's irrelevant. Unless you go for the honeypot skills you can easily max 2 weapon types and have decent skills/stats even on impossible

Retard. The remaster is buggy as shit and barely functional, I doubt they could afford to pay me to shill it (I'm not a pajeet who can live for a month on a single dollar like you) when they can't even ship a finished remaster after 10 years of dev time. It gave me an excuse to play through it again so I did. Fuck off out of my thread nigger.

Repair and Maintenance even being able to go to 6 is a fucking scam. Those skills should be capped at 3 or be like 50% of their cost.

This design looks like ass in both the old and new versions, but this particular picture looks decent. It looks sort of like a demon you'd find in SMT.

It's fine really. The worst problems already got patched, the only real remaining problem now is that reloading animations are janky

From reading the forums there seems to be a laundry list of bugs and crashes, specifically to do with co-op (the one feature you would hope they would have polished for this). I experienced a few notable bugs and 1 crash in my playthrough of the remaster.

Stephen Russell's Diego is just Garrett. His intro cutscene voice, hybrid voices and xerxes voice are more distinct but still noticeable him.

Diego is clearly Stephen Russell, it's the most Stephen Russell of all the Stephen Russell voices in the game. God bless the UNN.
