Since both the other anons gave shit answers, I'll simply say that if you watch gameplay and it appeals to you, you'll likely enjoy yourself. If the light harvesting/survival aspects are a turn off, you won't enjoy yourself. The world is well pathed with tons of backtracking shortcuts, some platforming, secrets/optional areas/paths galore, and even some hidden bosses. I'd say in its current state it's a 6.5/10. If they do 1.0 well, it'll probably be a 7.5/10.

If you plan on buying it at launch, you may as well get it for cheaper and buy EA. Pretty much every early access game nowadays raises price for the 1.0 launch. Game still doesn't have coop, but it doesn't need it.

Oh and whoever at the studio designed the optional crubile dungeons should be lynched.

my main issue with it is the devs see the player as an enemy to be crushed so you will get the most annoying bullshit ever, like puzzle missions with a binary choice where chosing option B means you lose the level and 30 minutes or progress and option A means you beat the level. Your only real way of knowing which is which is foreknowledge of guessing correctly or losing the level and knowing not to pick option B.

And even when the game isnt this level of bullshit it still pulls constant cheap shots with randomly spawning squads right on top of you or stealth puzzle sections with spotter enemies you cant see unless you know they are there.

It's got tarkov sort of loot goblin action, basic crafting, vehicles, base building, 3rd person and 1st person and constant updates. Dev is always giving feed back to his community. Well, a lot of things.
The characters are great. The story makes it one of the top 3 FF games ever made, in my opinion it's the best one. I think only FF7 comes close.
The aesthetics sell the game mainly. It's peak 2000s beach kino, lots of tropical holiday vibes.
The battle system is the easiest FF battle system to understand with the exception of the real-time games, if you've played practically any other traditional turn-based JRPG like any Megaton/Persona game you should understand how it works immediately because it's simple but also fun. The earlier games had an ATB battle system which by my understanding at least is unique to FF, FFX also has a fully voiced protagonist with a much stronger personality than earlier FF protags imo.
Pretty solid production and overall probably the easiest FF game to jump straight into for a newcomer. It's sad that FF never went back to this style of turn-based and instead went full throttle on real-time action games.

for wh tw: it will entirely depend on which factions you want to play. you can get wh3 alone and play the factions that come with it, but if you want lizardmen or skaven you can get the cheap dlcs which will unlock 2 commanders and their factions

been there done that. what i suggest is simply buying the factions you REALLY like. there is no reason to buy the entire trilogy + all dlcs

for example instead of the trilogy if you buy the dlc that has empire + lizardmen, skaven + wood elves you'll already have 4 entire factions accessible (what i did).

As a CRPG autist I did not like Pillars 1, it has a very very boring setting with monotonous writing and only a couple good party members. Pillars 2 has a more interesting setting but the party members are generally terrible, one gay fish that comes onto you in particular is notorious. I had more fun with Pillars 2, it's definitely worth the $10 if you like these sorts of games.
