Why did Kojima called him Tardman?? Is he jealous that George is a real movie director with his own legacy unlike him?

when I first got to the ship and was like oh cool this is george miller and then the game introduces you to a talking doll and you go ok this is kind of wacky but I'll deal with it and then immediately after there's a mannequin with a face drawn on it that looks like it was done by a 5 year old.

It's amazing how simultaneously he manages to produce equal kino and cringe

During that the game also spends like 5 solid minutes explaining how the government that isn't actually a government but an independent corporation elects the "president" and I have no idea why it has to be this complicated or whether or not it being this complicated means it's ever going to matter and I should even bother trying to understand what the fuck he's saying.

Would you guys mind not posting anything else related to DS2 until it comes to Steam? So far I've had George Miller and some VTube shit ruined for me. Please understand.

I'm stunned that there are still people who, somehow, buy and play Kojima games without knowing what they're in for. Either that or you somehow manage to convince yourselves that "no no no, THIS time it'll be the grounded, epic story I've been waiting for." Don't know which is more embarrassing

Yeah I mean, say what you want about all the wacky shit in DS1 but the message/themes of connection were so straightforward they were basically beating you over the head with it.

Do I really have to wait until the final hour for any of these characters to develop some sort of personality? I just can't listen to Dollman recap yet another cutscene I just watched in hopes that he'll say something interesting for once.

The fact that it released and it doesn't even have inorganic shills like Nightreign or E33 is funny. It and its predecessor are nothing games, budgets large enough to rival an entire third-world nation for plots and characters nobody would care to remember. Its like Avatar only with none of the success.

The concepts are too bizzare. Thereโ€™s nothing to latch onto except for the emotional component.

Things like the Beach are too conceptual in nature to get a narrative foothold on.

I find it in reverse. It's the ridiculously high emphasis on solely the characters that really ruins most of the setting. You could easily do with less exposition, dialogue and focus more on the world building and it would fix a lot of issues with the setting. Instead of going with what worked in the original game (to a degree) Kojima just decided to double down on the things that held the writing back in the original.

at least mgs5 had cool stealth gameplay. I feel like this whole trend started around mgs4, the bright idea of huge open worlds just didn't occur to kojima back then, as he admitted mgs5 was openworld because he was so impressed by GTA5

yeah. overall story arch is very similar to ds1, but with some new characters taking similar roles and million pointless mgs references

You should definitely play DS1 before playing DS2. You really need to play an entire game with BB-28 (Lou) strapped on to your chest to understand Sam's connection to her.

It's on sale on Steam, so take the dip. You won't regret it.
