I think I was too harsh on RDR2.

I went in as a fan of RDR1 expecting more RDR1, and I got something completely foreign and strange, utterly alien to what I expected. I was so offended I never even bothered finishing it. But it's been a few years now and I hear a 60fps patch for console is on the horizon, so I'm open to giving it a fair shake again. What's your assessment of RDR2?

It's the epitome of a Movie Game. Put your horse on cruise control. Don't stray from the path. Don't try and come up with a better plan for that mission.
Played the hell out of it though.

I dunno, I found it boring. Not just the gameplay but the story was not interesting either.

Disjointed game. Lots of useless mechanics
Story doesn't pick up pace until the 5th act and if you had enough emotional intelligence good luck in sympathizing with Arthur

Definitely a worse cowboy experience than the first game. RDR2 is what happens if you tried to set a drama TV show about a group of hobos refusing to get jobs and live through the industrial revolution

This. It made me wish there was a cowboy simulator game out there, just riding around doing cattle runs or drinking your wages at a saloon without having an ungrateful gang to drag you down or a lung to cough out.

It's the single most important game ever made

the characters are so badly inconsistent and shallow that it ruins the story. I wish the gun selection was better and I wish they didn’t cut so many features from single player to goad you into playing online which, again, was a fucking joke when it launched like gta5. 7.5/10
