I think its a good thing that other cultures get to participate in the entertainment industry, i dont think its fair that say, america gets to monopolize film or japan gets to monopolize animation

Although personally im not impressed with china's (overall) creative output (i did like all saints street though). Their style tends to be derivative and... overly detailed and frilly, like the gacha slop is a good example of that.

China is pretty good at making things in terms of production and technical sorts of things like that.

They don't have souls. The only Chinese work this millennium I have enjoyed on any level was 3 body problem, which is explicitly about their lack of souls. It's like blindsight from a first person perspective of a creature that looks human, but is not.

I do think it's a shame they don't have souls. With all that industrial ingenuity they could make some cool shit, but they are forever culturally locked. LoM is fine but i'm not expecting much from any anime not made by the japanese, already been burned on other adaptations from chinese webnovels more than once.
Incidentally the sequel wasn't even half as good. I'm not surprised that the author said that he considered writing sequels way harder and that he's going to avoid it in the future.
