Usually I am forced to touch the door lock. At that point I have marked my hand as contaminated and will keep it an arms lenght from my body until I have washed it. In the meantime I might as well use it to touch other things like the seat or the flush button.

Washing them compulsively or anytime you touch anything potentially contanimated is bad.
Also, eat your boogers/snot. Shit is good for you and builds your immune system as you introduce bacteria in a caustic environment that makes it easy for your immune system to adapt too.

That's the entire point. Boogers encase foreign particles (and thus bacteria) and weaken it. By the time it gets through your stomach acid, it's either completely melted or the bacteria is ripe for your immune system to rape and adapt too.

That's the point. It doesn't blatantly shove in your face that you are fighting some eldritch horror. Instead it just presents a situation that is utterly fucked up and that is difficult to comprehend. The eldritch horror is that, the more you try to understand it, the more questions you are left with, while the only answers you get only make it all more horrifying. Also the fact that it heavily implies that Ariane encountered something far beyond everything else that made her twist off.
