Easy mode shitters are a combination of some of the worst possible traits for a human being.

One is the inherent disregard of the activity they themselves chose to participate in. It's like those people who watch a show "ironically", why are you even playing a game if you explicitly don't want to engage with game mechanics or want the least amount of meaningful interactions possible?
The second is participation trophy mindset, you want to be considered on the same level as people who earned their wins but without putting any effort behind it, only to make yourself feel better about your own worthlessness.
And last but not least, it's the entitlement. Very often you will hear these bitching about some games not having easier modes and need eveything to cater to them, otherwise they will scream about elitism or gatekeeping just because it takes some moderate effort(not even true for most games) to become a social parasite.

caring what difficulty people play singleplayer games on is peak autism

Depends on the game for me. Anything with realtime combat, I like to amp up the difficulty, short of gimmick or one-hit modes, and really delve into the combat system.
For stuff like strategy games or 4x games, I tune it down. I'm there more to see giant fleets or armies crash against each other, and easier modes lets my guys pull off fights with cooler odds.
RPGs I play on normal, maybe hard if it's a game I'm familiar with. Stats fucking kill me, because they rarely change how a character moves or fights, it's just the same attack animation but bigger damage number.
Games like Mount and Blade with a player character + companions, I'll make my allies strong, but give myself the normal full damage. Ai companions go braindead sometimes, and I don't like micromanaging.
So yeah, the more player skill matters, I like it hard. When there's pauses, stats management, etc, I go easy.
I've beaten a few shooters on hardest/second hardest difficulty so I know I'm decent, but I've never finished a Borderlands game because the stats and builds are all just arbitrary excuses for weak gunplay

easy, by definition, is a way to gain basic grasp of mechanics. easy is for people new to games, or at least new to the genre. someone new to fps for example might want to try a few missions on easy to get a feel for the game, then replay on normal or just move to normal and continue on.

it also depends on genre. easy on fps is a lot different than easy on a racing or puzzle game. hard puzzle games can be legitimately irritating, while racing games are usually either fixed difficulty or scale in such a way that the same movements that work best on easy will work the same on normal/hard but with potentially more difficulty in jockeying for position.

so no, nothing wrong with easy. that being said, it's best treated as a stepping stone, otherwise you won't be able to appreciate the more in depth mechanics of the games.

If it's some niche indie thing from a solo eastern european dev, hard mode will probably kill your wrist function

If it's some AAAA slop, hard mode just means more pointless and worthless grinding

For anything else, it's the best possible way to extract the most fun out of a game

I don't care what difficulty people play on desu and although I don't play on easy I do sometimes play easy games that are still fun but I can't understand how people enjoy playing certain genres on easy. With Lies of P easy mode I am almost certain you can face tank a bunch of bosses and still win. Lies of P isn't even a story game and the environments and exploration are pretty mid. Stuff like an RTS or 4X (especially the modded versions of those games like most Dawn of War or Empire at War mods) I'll put it on easy nine times out of ten since the mods are usually designed for the people who find the hardest difficulty too easy and I can barely keep up on normal half the time. Shit like Bayo and to a lesser extend DMC you're going to play on easy since it's required to 100% the game and unlock everything but I won't touch the difficulty again after I'm done S ranking/Pure Plating it..

There's definitely nothing "wrong" with it, but it seems to me like reading through the Sparknotes summary of a book. In the case of Touhou games? Easy and Normal mode have fewer boss patterns, so you're literally getting less out of the game than you otherwise would be playing hard mode.

Easy mode just isn't as fun. I did my clear with SannyB yesterday, and that's all the normal runs for UFO!

I hadn't had much time to sit down and play lately, and MarisaB had me stuck for so long.. but I beat Byak pretty easily when I got to the Sanaes. It made UFO feel fun again! Emotional Skyscraper is such a great theme.
I was thinking about going to the Great Fairy Wars next, but I think I'll stick to the mainlines for now and come back to the decimals later. I've only played Ten Desires a couple times, but I was able to get almost halfway through Miko on my first run. I think this one should be pretty easy. I just need to figure out where the best spots for trances are.

Nothing it's the optimal way to play. IRL I lift a lot and can't feel immersed playing a character who needs to hit 50 times to kill something. Same reason I give myself 10 in every stat in fallout.
But I can understand why twinks need to play it on hard mode for more realism.

It depends on the game desu.
If the only difference between "easy" mode and "hard" mode is that the enemy has HP bloat but nothing mechanically changes then I'll save the time.

But in general if easy mode is actually too easy and there's no challenge at all and you can't fail it just feels unrewarding and unengaging.
And ultimately who cares
