>>713964943 (OP)>Really, guys?People that want story and dating don't want to grind MMO dailies, who would have thought? Plus all the manipulative game design to get every last cent out of whales, how insane the fanbase can get. etc.
But as
>>713965207 said, gachas are structurally bad at telling stories. You have to constantly introduce new characters, so the story never gets to reach a satisfying ending. Characters can never advance beyond their initial sales pitch or have meaningful conflict with other characters, as that risks putting of buyers.
>>713968226It's less the pull system and more macro structure of the game to support the pull system. The careful dripfeed of premium currency, the daylies to build a habbit, the events to get you used to fomo, the at times bizarre upgrade systems(compare the "weapons" from Starrail to those from Genshin as an example), etc. You can see all of those reused wether the game is open world action, turn based, a shooter, or tower defense.
It's a genre in as much as "MMO" is a genre: there's MMO RPGs, MMO Shooters, MMO Space Sim, and so forth.
