>>713996867I'm pretty sure it wasn't a prequel, but that's partially due to some events later in the game. the series is effectively over now, and I just wonder where the next fix is going to come from
>>714004901> So it wasnโt easy to step away, but Iโm excited to try something different for my next project. Instead of a narrative strategy game set in Glorantha, itโs a tactical narrative game in a new setting. But a lot of the core elements will be the same, the ingredients that combine to make interesting stories. Youโll still direct a set of characters with their own personalities and goals. Mythology is still at the heart of the game, which will draw on some of our oldest epics. This will help give the stories layers of meaning. Procedural generation means that each playthrough will be different. And of course your choices matter.Wow so they really aren't doing a third? I fully expected they were going to make it a trilogy. What a shame
And I really get what you mean with the first one being a disappointment. When it clicked with me that it never mattered how good or bad your clan was doing we it was entirely dependent on keeping one hero alive until you hit a checkpoint it really deflated a lot of the care out of it for me. The second one being a more concrete survival mission was a bit better, but it just doesn't quite feel the same.
Don't think I've really found another that scratched the itch just as much

Peaceful puzzle/strategy game inspired by Civ V. Every turn you build or upgrade a building, try to generate as many resources as possible within 100 turns by placing things optimally. Brilliant game, but UI is unfortunately clunky and translation is iffy. (Keyboard or controller only, no mouse support.)

You go on an adventure, and each turn you're presented with a situation and either swipe left or swipe right to decide what to do. In doing so you gain items, defeat enemies, grow stronger, etc, until you either defeat the final boss or die. Simple but fun.

Manage a group of mice on their journey through a desert planet by building rooms, assigning tasks, selecting items to craft etc. Resources are gathered passively by traveling, it's very much a 'gather stuff to build stuff to more efficiently gather stuff' kind of game. Starts off incredibly addictive but becomes a drag further into the game (though it becomes fun again when you restart). Interface designed for controllers, so controller highly recommended.

Well-designed though very indie (so slightly janky) platformer played with a single button. Turning around happens either via walljumps or by bumping into ghosts (which function similarly to Blockers in Lemmings). Love this game and played it start to finish multiple times, sad to see it have so few reviews. (Ignore the option for traditional controls, the dev added it after people whined about it being difficult, earlier versions had jump as only input.)

Very simple, very quick (rounds take seconds, if you survive a minute you're a pro) and very difficult game. You automatically move forward and hold space to start rotating around the nearest node, then release space again to fling yourself in a safe direction before grabbing a node to adjust again. You'll very soon crash into another node or into the wall (you're immune to the wall while rotating, but otherwise you're dead), which means game over; your score is how far you got. Sounds easy but it's brutal especially at first.

RPG maker game about a nerdy girl getting isekai'd and having to fight circumstances (and a succubus in her head) to not turn into a slut. I actually haven't finished it, but the actual RPG gameplay is solid and you need to act smart to make the most of your resources, otherwise you will end with a failed game. Every day is a challenge to weigh between becoming sluttier and giving into your corruption or holding tight to your convictions. Become too slutty too fast and you will lose your soul and lose the game. However if you play too slow you will also lose since the evil powers make their own moves time after time. Most decisions are between corrupting shortcuts (stripping, posing for nudes, doing drugs, sucking, fucking) and having to spend more time / effort for a task or having to pay extra gold. You can also get brainwashed and acquire various fetishes to increase your combat power.
The biggest complaint this game receives is that it's too much of slow burner if you just want to have a quick wank lol
If you're into corruption at all it's basically a no brainer buy

You guys got any favorite platformers 2D and 3D to recommend?
>>714057787I'm sticking mostly to stuff I've played relatively recently, and the list also trends a bit towards metroidvania elements.
Psuedoregalia, Metro Gravity, Corn Kidz 64, and Cavern of Dreams, are all N64/PS2 style graphics and a good time. Ruffy and the Riverside just came out but I haven't played it yet so can't comment there.
Janosik 1 and 2 are niche as hell but fairly solid 2D platformers. Khimera: Destroy All Monster Girls was charming and free last I checked. Rusted Moss was phenomenal but my brain was too smooth to play it. Pepper Grinder is cool but bafflingly short, they're barely scratching the surface of what they can do when the game ends.
>>714058210nta. Have played most of these, I really liked Corn Kidz 64 in particular. How is Cavern of Dreams?
I really need to get back into Rusted Moss as well. The gameplay is a lot fun but the writing put me off to be honest. The MC comes off as a cunt.
>>714058874Cavern of Dreams was a weird one because I liked the midgame quite a bit but it feels like the devs got a bit directionless towards the end. You can roll the dragon into a ball and do really fun stuff with using tail slams to redirect momentum or ramp off environmental objects, but then you eventually get "upgrades" that make that kind of movement much more finicky. There's also some puzzles with incredibly stupid solutions that I had to look up, but that's the classic N64 experience in a way.
For $5 you can certainly do a lot worse, and I enjoyed the ~5 hours I got out of it.
>>714058874>>714059052I enjoyed Cavern of Dreams more than Corn Kidz, but both are at the very least worth playing if you enjoy 3D platformers

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1958340/Cube_Chaos/
Or, more like CUBE CHADS.
It does not look like it, but this game is a revolution in deck building games, or card games in general.
You don't need to shuffle deck, all your cubes is on your hands. Instead of abstracted game field you have some kind of physical simulation running. Imagine most insane card game synergy and multiply it ten-, hungredfold. More complexity, but more clarity at the same time.
And dev is based, he doesn't nerf shit, he throws even more powerful curses at you to keep it in a state of relative balance. CHAOS is in the name.
So it's constant struggle, you think that certain tactic will carry you to the end, but it will be probably countered at the next encounter, and you will be forced to adapt.
Sometimes you win under a minute by placing one laser at the right spot, and sometimes you have to gnaw growing basalt towers for in-game hours (fast-forward is here). You can put steam generator merely to increase mana generation, and suddenly the game transforms to "how to survive at the bottom of ocean". You can combine machineguns with machineguns, you can make multi-tile robots, or just bunk enemy to death, and it's not like you could make it on a whim, you'll probably be forced to do all of this tactics.
It's THE BEST wizard simulator. Noita is great, sure, but Noita's magic is usually just shooting. Here effects are much more diverse.

This one's fun. It's like a N64-style Zelda and its very charming. Has some fun designs, very flamboyant and the gameplay is only a bit indie-jank. And its really meaty for a first act. Definitely worth checking out
>>713969502I only know what Research and Destroy is because it had a fucking Somnium Files crossover
>>714061264To better get Leaf Odyssey, you should play DROD first. It's source of inspiration for the dev.
>>713968268 (OP)And yeah, DROD. The best puzzle game franchise, and Steam version got like under 30 reviews (it's actually older than Steam).
As obscure as it gets.
>>714068306This isn't the ESL game dev shill thread
>>713977521can't even enforce your faggot rule properly
>>714068640DROD is awesome (except that Tower of the Sorcerer clone), but it filters brainlets like there's no tomorrow.
>>714068689Recommending hidden gems is inherently shilling of some sorts.
>>714068623>very flamboyantunderstatment, the reviews are filled with literal faggotry
>>714057787N Plus Plus, or N++
>>714069775I think the dev said the main character is gay but it doesn't come up during the game. Reminds me more of something like jojo with all the tight bodysuits that show skin but nobody in the game is like "hey I'm gay"
>>714068640>As obscure as it gets.I've seen at least two games posted ITT with single-digit review counts.
Plus I know of some games that have even fewer reviews than those, I just don't post them.
>>714015285Wdym the game is kino
>>713991460I played the entire trilogy, was really fun. I used to play the NES version of Blaster Master when I was a kid. Really fun platforming and Eve is cute!
Bye it for Eve!
>>714070915Well, gem to coverage ratio for DROD is off the charts.

>Cool autobattler with pokemons on crack.
>>714071592You watched that one Factorio nerd from /v/ make a video about it on youtube, shut up.
>>714051583Allowing chinese reviews was a mistake
>>713969502How similar is BAKERU to Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon? I know it's a spiritual successor or whatever, but still.
>was going to suggest Underhero as a neat Paper Mario inspired game
>667 reviews
>>714070005In Jojo it's because Araki is obsessed with fashion magazines, Araki is genuinely clueless about how it looks to other people, he really is just a big fashion nerd
>>714060504VO was a thing only available as on-cart DLC for the PS4 and Switch trilogy physical releases.
I'm sure someone could make a mod to port them to the Steam version but it's not currently a thing.
>>713972348I finished it some time ago, what was up with that ending?
easy red 2 is bf1942 if it was made today
big battles, vehicles and weapons with light arma inventory as well

Incredibly difficult but inventive puzzle game, not a bad puzzle in the bunch and there's nearly two hundred of'em

-Spirit Hunter UNO, DOS, Y TRES, 50% and 60% off (I think you should support Experience at these prices, but if you need/want to pirate, go for it because the VNs are wonderful)

>Creepy VN with jump scares that work (as I am not a jumpscare enjoyer) but you can turn them off if you're a complete pussy. Horror VNs are far and few between and this one has a great cast, a great story, and a wonderful juxtaposition between comfy and frightening that works.
>>714089934Eww, trypophobia inducing boobs...
>>713968268 (OP)Iโd recommend some /v/ anons โRavensburgโ
Itโs a sorta gothic RPGMaker game that the dev is constantly updating with more dating stuff and H-scenes
>>714090465very, well, here's a normal ghost instead
>>713969502Penko Park was so close to being an insta-buy from me. The art style is too cute for the atmosphere IMO.
>>714006913Xanadu Next is incredibly kino. A warning for potential players: do NOT skip buying the second carving knife when offered to or one of the strongest armors in the game will become permanently unavailable. This can potentially cuck you massively since its high magical resistance helps in the insanely difficult post-game dungeon
>>713992816Came to post this one. The journal was the closest I've ever seen anything come to KoL's writing.
>>714060797Coropata is basically a digital trap for lolicons. The presentation is amazing but like the other anon said the gameplay is pixel hunting ASS. There are no real physics, everything is on an invisible grid and you'll spend hours autistically moving objects in increments until you """""find""""" the solution. I have seen many helpless anons claim the PC port is buggy but that's just cope, the game really is SHIT.
>>714092256>love Xanadu (played the reprint) and XN>buy Tokyo Xanadu>it's complete shitI have never bought another Falcom game since and never will again
