It is. All ACs are good and fun although Odyssey and Valhalla will burn you out if you try to 100% them nowadays with them being content-complete. Never listen to this board about AC franchise. /v/ has a bone to pick with (arguably modern) Ubisoft but just as the faggots over on /lit/ they cannot separate the art from the artist. What they bitch about in AC they love in threads of other titles, it's literally just the name otherwise they would praise it. Just watch out with this one because as I said, it is one of the big 2 and you may get burned out. If you finish it and still want more, don't go directly into Valhalla imo, try Origins, Mirage or Shadows, the latter being recently released so the content amount is chill atm - base game + 3 quests lines. Mirage is also a chill and short experience BUT it ties directly with the narrative for Valhalla so if you care about the lore you should know this. Origins, especially the Curse of the Pharaoh DLC it's so fucking good it's insane!

It's not a bad game, but it's the LEAST Assassin's Creed one out of the nu-AC trilogy. As far as action RPG with fuckton of loot goes you'll get your 100+ hours out of Odyssey. So much of it is clearing out filler forts, though. Small stories here and there are interesting even if they're just a minority of content.

It was especially due to the parkour changes they've made. You can clearly see the limitations of Valhalla's system - made for action-focused gameplay, yet they tweaked Basim's speed to be faster, added ejects, changed the grippings etc etc. I keep wondering if the team was given the project from scratch and not based on Valhalla's engine iteration, how much closer it could have been to the OGs. Nonetheless, it was a good entry and after the hog that Valhalla became, it was so chill.

Yeah that greentext isn't romanticizing it at all, let's pretend we couldn't finish the game with our eyes closed using half done janky mechanics. Don't get me wrong I love the game, but this revisionism is dumb.

What revisionism? It is a fact that AC1 went for an idea and playstyle that was made away with as early as the sequel, so if you're someone that loved what the first game tried to do then it's by default the peak of the series because no other Ass Creed tried to follow up from it. AC2 had no investigations, no focus on the modern day mystery, half the game was action scenes like Rocky Road or Infrequent Flier, the other half had fucked pacing like half of Venice. Ezio was a fuckboy action man more than he was a stealthy assassin, and the villain's writing took a hit. Every game after it tried to be AC2 again, which is why even Ubisoft themselves ignore AC1 unless it's to paste Altaรฏr's robes into the newer games as a Uplay reward. AC1 thus remains wholly unique

Whenever someone says this it means they never replayed the game and just have fond memories of it from 2007. I liked it back then but it really isn't a very good game.

I really dislike how you always end up looking like a clown so you just set whatever you want your armor to look like, invalidating all the effort that went into armor design. Upgrading Bayek's armor in Origins was much more coherent.

>only reason plot happens is because every adult acts like a 10yo that can't talk without sperging out even after half a year without having seen their fellow friend and comrade
>there's no battle of ideologies, instead for this one random game the Assassins act like Templars and the Templars like Assassins

It's a bog-standard openworld ubislop game created to placate the hylic masses. Even using the kino that is the peloponnesian war as a set piece can't redeem it.
