Iterative sequels used to take 1-2 years and now they take 5 years. You wait 5 years to play a game that functionally looks and feels the same with minor QoL changes and a new story.
>>713981440 (OP) They still take only 1-2 years, for whatever reason fucking around aimlessly in glorified pre-production for 4+ years has become an acceptable norm.

Going from Uncharted 1 to 2 felt like a more radical innovative expansion of the original than any of these games and that was a 2 year gap. Sequels these days feel more like going from one television episode to the next, it doesn't really feel like a new experience.

>>713981567 Yeah, I mean that one is significantly worse than any of the ones I posted. At least those have new levels

>>713981567 I'd really love to know what the hell happened behind the scenes here. Even granting them that Covid restrictions hit most Japanese studios hard, something really spicy must have gone down for it to take over 6 years to make an asset, worldspace, and engine reusing sequel.
>>713981440 (OP) Kojima said recently that DS2 would have came out 2 years ago if it wasn't for the plandemic

2 cour anime used to air back to back. now they take 3-season breaks. you wait 9 months to watch an anime that functionally looks and feels the same with minor op/ed changes and a new story.

>>713981901 There is also the fact that it was originally going to be a DLC for BotW. In that format it would have added the sky islands and ultrahand features. The only things it gained in the transition to $70 release was the depths, the dungeons, and the story of you can really call it that. Nothing about TotK really adds up. It's like they spent six years working on a game that just didn't pan out, and in the final stretch shoved out a padded out version of the BotW DLC build.

I think there's a lot financial fuckery going on where they are not allowed to start working until the investors are happy with the returns on first game And these investors are massive out of touch faggots Otherwise wotc would've begged larian to make expansions and other games And there are countless examples of that Just look at Hogwarts legacy The best selling game with no dlc or sequal in works Only people doing quick sequals are non amrican studios like the one that made atomic heart and stellar blade
>>713983948 >Hogwarts legacy >The best selling game with no dlc or sequal in works This is entirely down to WB being one of the worst run entertainment companies ever.
>>713984562 That's what I am saying A lot of decline in gaming is due to bad business practices Long before dei and woke EA was the great satan of video games and rightfully so
