The whole fucking series is built around Sora and Kairi's youthful mutual crush. He cares about Kairi more than anyone else, not that much more, because of his trademark Heart of Gold, but there's absolutely another level of affinity there.
In the first game, he's generally assuming Riku and Kairi are together, even though he has no reason to believe that, but as such, he asks after both of them most of the time. Then, in II, Coded, Dream Drop Distance and III, he usually knows she's safe for sure, and has no reason to talk about her much, over Riku, who's actually out doing things and putting himself at risk.
One of the first fucking things that happens in the whole series is Sora hemming and hawing over mustering the courage to commit to a gesture of mutual commitment in his culture in the form of sharing the Paupu Fruit with Kairi.
He understands love, and he has very obvious oneitis for Kairi. But he doesn't talk about her much because we always see him in the middle of very important things which usually also have Riku wrapped up in them, meaning he's relevant to the actual story that much more.

We're not all like this. I hate when people do stuff like this myself. I don't need everything to be gay, and I don't want everything to be gay. Would it be nice to have some original, high quality stuff that throws me a bone, sure. But I'm not demanding representation or pandering, because it almost always sucks.
