They didn't give us a demo. Why the fuck should we even think about it? And Rise of Ronin came out 2 years later and ran like shit while being 100 gigs and looking like garbage. There is clearly a hype period where a lot of people will try mid things. All this Sony exclusivity does is get rid of that period for PC players, so unless the game is actually really good everyone will skip it because the hype isn't going to convince them to purchase mid garbage. The perfect example of this is Final Fantasy. Square fucked themselves by delaying for exclusivity, because now everybody just views the game as mid garbage and doesn't see any reason to buy it, but I even personally know plenty of people who would have bought it day one, that skipped it after realizing how mid it was.

To be fair, giving a demo when the game is still a year away from release is extremely uncommon. It will probably get a demo a month from release like Wo Long did. This is less of a demo and more of a beta test and they probably didn't want people datamining the shit out of it on PC.

Loved ronin movesets. Combat was pretty simple to grasp but with enough variety to not get bored. We've already seen some ronin moves in nioh 3 like jumping on enemy heads for ki damage and stagger. There's tons more I'd like to see ported. Knowing TN they'll throw everything in.

I think Nioh 3 will probably be a big flop.
Once more they tried to attract a new audience to it with shit like open world and ninja style that doesn't have stances or ki pulse or other stuff that gives normalfags the ick. But judging by the lackluster presence online, once more they failed. Normies simply don't care about Nioh with its very dated visuals and lack of "aura moments".
Meanwhile the hardcore Nioh fans are divided on the new changes so a part of them will likely hate the game, which will result in a smaller audience than Nioh 1 or 2.

I don't agree. I think theres a big crossover with nioh fans and older TN fans who enjoyed ninja gaiden. The ninja style looks more like an appeal to them but at the end of the day it just adds more variety to combat. I can't really think if a way of improving nioh 2 combat that doesnt involve active skill bloat. This has potential imo. Especially if they increase enemy aggression and expand enemy movesets.

I'm afraid to be hyped until the existing concerns about the game (few returning weapons, weapons locked to style, etc) are put to rest by the next demo. I'm pretty sure they will be, but I've been disappointed too many times before and I'm tired of getting hyped too early. Also I hope they don't fuck up the "open world" design, it looked ok so far but I could see it being done poorly depending on how it's handled.

The issue with onmyo that became more of an issue in Nioh 2 where Ninjustu also had elemental abilities, is that it doesn't have that much of an identity. The idea of using soul cores to choose between passive yin buff or active yang attacks is a great idea. It has potential to be interesting and different to Ninjutsu. All this repeated dooming over a system none of us have seen its full potential is just insanity.

Different styles have different windows for the cs. You can check by hitting counterspark button and immediately pausing game and trying photo mode. Go through frame by frame until you see that vaseline smear spiral effect. That smear connecting with an attack is the parry you want. Some have it delayed from start of animation so you need to do later, some are as expected.

because Nioh games, even though they're fantastic and well-made, are the perfect example of what it looks like when you release something when bigger titles are around - like Nioh 1 got sandwiched between Yakuza 0 and Breath of the Wild, and Nioh 2 was around the time Doom Eternal, Animal Crossing (Switch) and Final Fantasy 7 Remake came out so the same thing will probably happen to this game

I didn't enjoy my first 20 hours of Elden Ring because I was trying to play it as a souls game. Once I understood the pace, I didn't put it down for 500 hours. I don't like open world for this game, at least what we got in the demo. The meat of these games is hard and fast action every few minutes. I hope there will be tons of things to do in the open world that isn't just busywork (find kodamas/scampuss) With that frame of mind, I'm willing to give it a shot. If they remove the weapon restictions between classes I think the game will do well despite the other changes. I hope there's more than one kind of crucible. And I hope every weapon gets at least one framwle perfect ultracombo like Beyond Infinity. YOU HEAR ME TN!?

First because I was denied a demo because of my choice of platform. Don't tell me to get excited about a game if you treat me like a second-class citizen.

Secondly because the ninja style is just another layer of mechanics in a game already absolutely bloated with combat mechanics to the point it at times feels like a clusterfuck. Also sounds like something that clashes with my personal preferred style of play, but will be shoved down my throat regardless. I always felt like the weapons and builds gave people lots of freedom to engage combat in a way they thought was more fun.

I enjoyed my first 50 or so hours of elden then it just felt bloated and repetitive. I don't mind repetitive but when the core combat just isn't particularly engaging then the repetitive bosses and dungeons get very tiring very quickly. Funnily enough I enjoyed the repetition in nioh 2 because it wasn't open world and combat was fun

Played the Alpha, it was sick for the most part. Open World (or Open Field I guess) continues to make games worse for no fucking reason other than appealing to retarded mainstream gamers.

The gameplay is great as usual and the new changes are fresh.

1 is great but I prefer 2. Not sure why you mention lies of P since they're nothing alike but you'll see that very quickly when you get into the meat of it. Since these games can be such big time sinks (each one introduces new mechanics with every ng+ cycle) I'd recommend playing 2. At least for me, I thought Nioh 2 was disappointing in quite a few ways. Worse story, bad sound changes, gimmicky Yokai forms and some other stuff I didn't like. Seeing this new game, I don't really like the idea of having this Samurai/Ninja style that locks weapons only to certain ones. Literally why do this? So dumb. I also sighed when I heard they were going with a more "open" world. Guess we'll have to wait and see how it all turns out, but honestly, I'm not exactly hyped.
