It's the most boring and forgettable game you can imagine.
I 100%ed it and I can't remember a single level. If this is a "9/10" Mario I don't want to see the others. Are all Nintendo games like this?

It's the worst 3D Mario

It's good but too basic. Sticks too close to the generic Mario aesthetic and even mechanically there's nothing really memorable other than being 2D Mario in 3D.

It's 3D Mario but with Crash Bandicoot level design, meaning it's not open 3D maps like in SM64, but it's very linear levels.
If you're into Crash Bandicoot you can consider this a similar game. If you're into the actual 3D Mario games then dont bother with this one

Dw, there are mario games with an actual identity, like Galaxy. 3d land/3d world are the worst in that regard

Like its namesake Super Mario Land, it's a passable recreation on inferior hardware.
SML was made inferior by its sequel. Mario 3D Land was made obsolete by modern handhelds that let you play "real" 3D Mario games on them.
That doesn't make it bad, not at all. Mario 64 DS has the same issue. A cool novelty for the time when the alternative was nothing, but now you can play the games that SML/3D Land are copying and thus they're a lot less interesting without that novelty.
