Recently completed Raging Loop.
Top atmosphere, great character writing, sloppy plot that goes insane by the end. The greatest aspect of the game was the social one, so I have no idea why they decided to end it like they did.

It's a fun VN. Really cozy setting if you like isolationism, and the characters are well-rounded. It's tens, it's dramatic, it's funny, it's action-filled and I would heartily recommend it.

I wish someone gave me the following warning before I read it though, but if you're in the mood to go in blind, don't hover over this text: it is unfinished. And I'm not talking about "missing a few lines" or "had to cut a couple of sideplots". No no, a huge portion of the main story that ties everything together doesn't exist. I'd still recommend playing it, and there's a great resource online detailing what the last chapter was suppose to be, but it ends on a mean-spirited cliffhanger.

They should've kept it a comfy social sim. The first acts were 10/10. The part where you play the Wolf is also really cool, the MC has gone through it so much he doesn't care and just goes to kill people. The fact that he knows he has looped a million times and doesn't care, but seeing how the others just do it without experiencing a loop was a nice retrospect.

But what the actual FUCK were they smoking when making the ending? It wouldn't even be that bad, but the revelation of your character being a literal schizo who works for the FBI chick, who is actually a god, but a sheep, to stop the world from ending or whatever the fuck was just too much.

Yeah chiemi looped a lot before he got there. After they discover each other is looping they spend sometimes looping and wasting time.
But before then Haruaki only loops the minimum number of times, I think the only time extra that isn't at the end of a route, is the second feast when chiemi and the tranny boy are the wolves and he went to tamper with chiemi's bullets and accidentally blew himself up

I didn't get Hime's character at all.
Felt like the philosophy was somewhat unnecessary and too hard to understand. Wasted too much time in the middle part on pointless babble instead of focusing on the SoL which was the strength.
Horrid english translation full of serious errors, but at least you can switch to jp at any time.

that said still an unique experience to look back on fondly even if the middle killed alot of the fun

Finished Chaos;Child and liked it a lot.
Nono and Hinae and Senri were the cutest of the main heroines. Hinae's and Uki's endings were kind of lame, Uki in general felt very underdeveloped. Hana too, but at least she had a fun route.
I did not see the "everyone actually has wheelchair Takumi syndrome" twist coming.
Did Kunosato or Shinjo ever show any hints that it was weird for Serika to be attending school despite not being ill? I had Wakui down as a Committee glownigger pretty much immediately, but I didn't suspect Sakuma.
Also, shouldn't Uki have aged six years in the true end, now that she lost her power? Nono went back to being Senri.

As far as im aware, there is no "real world" since its implied that multiple time lines exist. Haru is maimed severely by Hime in one of the many possible timelines that Yotsuba sees through the cassettes in the true ending, i suspect out of jealously. Unless you mean the original timeline (where Haru and Shion dissapear upon meeting each other), by which id argue she didn't actually die to Hime? There is the possibility that Hime already was plotting agaisn't Haru since its implied that they are related but that seems unlikely. That or i somehow misunderstood the story.

There was probably no meaning to the scene since its probably just Yotsuba being delusional iirc. Perhaps its purely symbolic.

Im fairly sure there was a significant delay in the translation by the publisher, so thats why the translation sucks (because iirc they decided to translate it themselves). I do find it interesting that you liked the SoL since most people seem to hate that part. I personally liked everything in general. .

its a lot worse overall but it does have some redeeming factors in that it is a fuck ton of content and some of the routes are wild and fun at parts.

The main character really helps it since he is a combination of both funny dumb and also very action oriented so he is willing to do retarded things that a passive or smarter protag wouldn't do.
Some spoliers for a sub route but highlight for me was killing himself 300 times in different ways until the entity possesing him gives up from pain. by the end of the route his friends are cheering him on as he's jumping from the rooftop and it's a funny scene

I'm currently reading Minikui Mojika no Ko, or as it's been localized, Mojika: Truth rears its ugly head. I'm going for all the routes, and just finished my third one. Fucking hell I wasn't prepared for this; pissing, puking, rape, drugs, genital piercing, straight up murder, and all of it in a single route. I don't consider myself squeamish, but it actually made me a bit sick. I genuinely can't wait to see what the True Route has in store, but I've got another one to do before that.

Anyway, I beat Fata Morgana after putting it off for a few years, I have some complex thoughts about this shit. At its best it felt like a masterpiece but the lows were just SO low that the whole thing shakes out to like a 5/10. It felt like a mess but a very entertaining one at least

I also finished Private Eye Dol but that's more of an adventure game than a VN. Now I'm trying to decide between a few things for what to read next

it was well written and paced, pretty realistic and relatable in terms of how teens work. The philosophy/science bits were just bloated for bloat's sake sometimes. But at least it was pretty original with the world aspects and went really far in trying to make sense so I can't say I dislike it in retrospect.

I haven't read Fata Morgana yet but I like Umineko due to the characters, the mystery, the music, the voice acting and the ending.
But I dont consider it a top-tier VN, arc 4 and 8 have god-awful pacing, there's still some retarded shit within the mystery, it has to many characters for its own good and even though I really like the cast within the mansion I pretty much dislike almost every character from the magic world.

Thread, what is the best way to play Ace Attorney 3? I don't really want to use a DS emulator because it's so crunchy and small and I would prefer to avoid the Steam port abortions if possible.

It really depends on what people like about danganronpa, if it was strictly solving the murder mysteries, the minigames or the suspense of not knowing who survives and who dies, then HL will feal worse. On the other hand, I like the characters and their interactions more than I did in DR games. The sprite design and music are about the same. I think the Anon who said that Kodaka wants to create junk food in video game form put it the best.

I played 120 hours of it and got burned out. For the last 90 hours or so I was waiting for some sort of payoff, and nothing like that has happened yet. The routes are so different from each other that I don't feel like I'm putting together a jigsaw to solve a bigger mystery, like none of them are actually connected and it's mostly just random shit happening. Kodaka argued that we should see it as 100 different games, but none of these routes are good at ALL individually. A lot of them have complete nonsense happening in them which presumably gets explained in some golden timeline later, but like I said, I've played 120h and this has barely happened. You get the occasional "oooooooh so that's why he was there", but then it's back to 15 more hours of "grinding" shitty dialogue.

I loved all of it even if 4th arc was kind of a slog due to its pacing, 7th and 8th weren't horror at all and the 8th arc being kind of shit at times due to Hanyu. Also the 3 artstyles feeling unfitting for the story with only the OG art being kind of decent but the console art having more character portraits making it feel like there's no true definitive art m style. Also the slice of life music from the question arcs being mostly shit to the point I had to replace the sound files. But otherwise 1~3+5+6 are top-tier visual novels for me, Minagoroshi is still pretty good, Saikoroshi helps to give some emotional closure despite being disconnected from everything and even with their problems 4 and 8 have some really good moments.

I got softlocked in the first game on the chapter with the bees, haven't gone back to it. I even looked up a walkthrough, but some progression event (I forget) that's supposed to trigger just never happened.
