Tomestone weapons are a notoriously poor catchup option, by the time they can be bought with infinitely obtainable tomestones they're already outdated by the newest crafting weapons that can be bought with gil on the marketboard. Some expansions add a few new objectives like shooting darts at a soldier or stalking an NPC while trying to elude their gaze, but a fair lot of it will still be "talk to this person" and "loot 3 of these" and "fight a few enemies". Solo duties get better, though.
