There are plenty of hints that her life feels empty without him in it, and given that he has made it very clear that he still loves her, she is torn between her guilt and her stubbornness for choosing the divorce. So to cope, she tries throwing herself in her classes, her hobbies, anything to distract her from how much she misses her eggs-husband. And none of it works, so she tries to fill the void with Sans, and she tries to loosen her inhibitions and force herself to accept Sans as Asgore's replacement by using alcohol, resulting in her getting ridiculously drunk (which, of course, Sans encourages because it makes things easier for him, regardless of whatever theory you have for why he's with her). The path Toriel is down now is not a healthy one, and her "relationship" with Sans has already started off on a very unhealthy foot. She needs to talk to Asgore.

Ok so something I learned from the bathroom scene in chapter 2 is to never underestimate side walls like that. The game normally doesn't bother to use that kind of perspective unless it absolutely needs the side of the wall for something.
