my guess is that yoshi-p let the leash go out too far and a lot of things that shouldn't happen did. i think koji wasn't aware of or was naive to think kate's public political leanings wouldn't affect her work. i think ishikawa and hiroi had to deal with yoshi-p wanting wuk (may have even been an attempt at Moenbryda 2, now that i think about it) to be a scion level character. this is especially damaging in a character based story like 14's which lives and dies on its MSQ. which to be honest, if the story started at shaaolani it would be a 9/10. the first half really drags it down. All of endwalker's experimental content appears to have failed, specifically criterion and IS. which is a shame because criterion is exactly what people asked for in difficult 4 man content (don't get angry at me, maybe next time you ask for something think it through and don't just use arbitrary statements like 'make it like this from (other game) but fun')

finally, the graphics update was hit or miss and the dual dye channels have some interesting choices as to what elements can be dyed.

none of these problems are permanent and dawntrail did take steps in the right direction as far as encounter difficulty, dungeon encounters and presentation, the music is good as always, living memory was a bold artistic choice, arcadion has the best opening wing of any raid tier and the ffxi raid, while its once again just memberberries, looks like it was designed by someone who actually played the game at its peak

As you can see here, the darkness was the primary concern of the Mamool Ja for centuries. Because they didn't even know the meteorites were an issue. As far as they knew for centuries it was purely an issue of getting sunlight in. They tried to let sunlight in, even, and failed. Electrope can be used demonstrably far outside the Dome. This has two issues. For the WoL and the MSQ that in the future any issues pertaining travel, communication or any form of non combat inconveniences can, and should be solved "Let us use electrope!". Electrope is completely reliant on lightning aether for an initial power source to then do energy conversions, and is only really useful in the context of an area that has so much lightning energy that it's in a 24/7 storm, like Alexandria which was deliberately tipped to lightning by Ascian hands. Alexandria also won't stay like that forever after merging with the Source, it'll equalize over time a la the First's energy imbalances being fixed by Eden. I'm confused at what lore shattering is supposed to be going on here. Electrope sucks as a miracle material unless your shard is a lightning pit, its defining characteristic is 100% fuel efficiency for lightning pumped into it and then converting to any other element, and it also needs very high complexity arcanima inscribed on it to do that energy conversion instead of just being a lightning battery.

There's also that electrope is only seemingly limitless within Alexandria's bounds, specifically because they hoarded their entire planet's supply before the apocalypse. It won't become worldwide again, it doesn't make any mechanical sense for it to do so in light of its specific elemental requirements (lightning won't permeate Heritage Found and the Everkeep forever) and Alexandria's hoarder nature.
