i'd say they actually had a solid amount of sidemodes, moreso in the gamecube games but the focus was always more on the main party mode. even when ndcube started off with 9 and island tour there was a decent healthy balance. then 10's side stuff was really shit and star rush was the true beginning of it getting extremely lobsided towards the side content.

i was mostly talking about DS but they could reasonably skip over the 3ds ones, honestly just keep doing what they're doing with jamboree and just have a few comeback minigames alongside a bunch of new ones, maybe even go for what MP2 did and give them a slightly different coat of paint. i like superstars but i don't like it being super in your face about the nostalgia. especially now that all three N64 games are on the online service so it basically undermines its entire appeal.

I think Jamboree does have the right idea since it allows them to not run through the nostalgia bait along with not completely pandering to nostalgia. NDCube just needs to stop wasting so much time on the numerous side modes, make sure the next game picks up the pace from Jamboree's glacial pace, and practice on making better original minigames. They are so close to the perfect sweet spot and the perfect formula.
