A whole lot of the handhelds they design will prioritize stick placement over the D-Pads, and it’s very common for them to put out shitty D-Pads that register false diagonals and stuff. I want something that doesn't render 3DS games in 240p while also being comfortable to use. Unlike the DS, where devs designed games around the 192p limitations and made great looking 2D and intentionally low-poly games, a lot of 3DS games tried to go the console-tier route with their games and they end up looking like shit as a result.

Very cool, love tech like this. However as others have said, playing 3DS games without the 3D is like trying to play Wii sports with a keyboard. You’re missing out on the coolest part of those games. You’re cheating yourself.

Besides 3DS is arguably the best jailbroken system you can own. It’s not cheap for a reason.

Would be cool to play non-DS games on the big screen but have emulator controls like save states and fast forward on the bottom touch screen.
Or go full zoomer brainrot mode and allow other apps on the bottom. Like watch videos and listen to podcasts while you play games on the upper screen.

The 3DS in general was so underwhelming I stopped buying Nintendo consoles. Wish I was joking.
It always felt underpowered as hell, the screen had a terrible resolution for the years it covered, the library had a few gems but it was overall very poor compared to previous Nintendo consoles, the arbitrary lack of a 2nd stick unnecessarily limited devs (which is why they later tried to rectify the error), and the jailbreaking capabilities (including piracy and emulation) didn't really compensate all the shortcomings.
Shame because I really wanted to like it.

when the vita was new, sony advertised PS3 to vita remote play as if it were universally supported and worked seamlessly while moving around. they got sued because it was extremely misleading, it only worked with a small library of games and with a high quality connection to your house.
the vita TV was released in japan as a device that could play vita games, no particular funny business. but when it was eventually released in the west, it was retitled the playstation TV and marketed primarily as a PS4 remote play client + netflix viewer that you could put in rooms without a PS4. sony had no faith in people buying it to play vita games but released it anyway for some reason.

ribbon cables inside of hinges are the devil, but i've never seen a 3DS break at the hinges. usually i saw them broken from being dropped while open. the hinges were much sturdier than on the older DS models.

Having more than one portable gaming device just seems like overkill. If I'm going to be spending $400 on some chinkslop, I may as well just put another $100 in and get a ROG or Steamdeck option. Even if money isn't an issue, I don't want to be bogged down with electronics. Phone+one other is a sweet spot.

No games even really use the N3DS' nub and the extra power of the N3DS is also irrelevant as fuck since Monster Hunter is the only game that really gets anything out of it and that's just going from like ~30 fps to ~45 fps. The only real thing it has over the O3DS is SNES VC but if you have a 3DS then it should be hacked and SNES9x works fine on an O3DS. The N3DS is probably the biggest fucking nothing update a console has gotten since these mid-gen upgrades have started and Nintendo scammed retards into buying a new 3DS.

what engines ran on PS3 and not vita? it had UE3 and PhyreEngine and those were all that really mattered when it launched.
vita's bigger problem was that PS3 was almost immediately replaced by the PS4 and that created a large gulf in power you couldn't compensate for unless you decided to simply develop for vita as the lead platform and build up for PS4.
