I am actually pretty excited for both it and Age of Imprisonment.
I really liked Legends Arceus. For ZA though I'm really bothered by the game presumably all taking place in the city though. And I kind of hate mega evolutions. But the premise of the night time street fighting sounds fun and is exactly the kind of thing Legends Arceus was missing.

Similarly Age of Calamity is easily my favourite musou game.
But for Age of Imprisonment I really couldn't give less of a fuck about the past sages. They were nothing-characters and I'm unsure of to what degree Koei could change that even if they tried to. But being able to play as Mineru I'm very much looking forward to, and I kind of hope we get to play as some kind of hybrid-dragon Zelda at some point. And I'm sure that most of the AoC characters will return for AoI anyway.
I do hope AoI makes strongholds and allied NPCs more relevant than in AoC though. But I'm fairly hopeful for AoI in general.

I still can't believe how much Nintendo was holding up the Switch on their own during the first couple of years. Third parties had so little faith in the Switch that Nintendo had to go out of their way to publish some of their games themselves, like you can see Dragon Quest Builders in that image but there was also Builders 2, TWEWY 1, and DQ11S (all happen to be Square Enix by the way). Hopefully all the astroturfing going on by western game journalists (who didn't get any early access or exclusive coverage) doesn't cause publishers to make the same mistake twice, because the Switch 1 has proven that audience actually buys games for it.

This isn't really new with the Switch. Nintendo had to be the one to publish Square Enix's games on their platforms to the west since the fucking GBA. It's almost necessary because Square Enix half-asses the marketing for any of their games that aren't their biggest budget blockbusters. You can immediately tell when you compare how much exposure a Square Enix game that launches as a Nintendo exclusive gets, and compare to when a game is multi-platform.

Do you remember how the marketing went for Octopath Traveler, Triangle Strategy or even the 3DS Bravely Default games? Of course you do. Do you remember how their marketing went for The Diofield Chronicle, NEO: The World Ends With You, or Valkyrie Elysium?
