The game's about how you can't have highs without lows. The world, and everything in it, is in a constant state of decay, so it takes effort to fix or replace what doesn't work anymore. At the end you're given the choice to light the fire or not, which is to answer the question, "Was it the Fire that's flawed or was it Gwyn?" You could say the same thing about our own world: was the collapse of the Soviet Union due to Stalin being shit or communism being shit? Is it the dude in charge or the policies they claim to enforce?
