I played MP1 recently with Primehack and it's awesome with keyboard+mouse with instant door loading. Too bad about the second half of the game tho lol i'm not looking forward to playing 2 & 3. Couldn't give a shit about 4 because I don't trust modern devs to not fuck it up desu.

Prime 4 is the only high quality game from Nintendo that's been revealed for the switch 2 (actually a switch 1 game but whatever). It not being good is going to be a bad sign
>>714053173
that's not a new suit, it's the prime 2 varia (based for reusing it because it's the best one in the series) slimmed down a bit, unless you mean the other new suit which is yes, the best suit since the light suit
>>714053308
I'm not sure how 2 looks cartoony compared to 1 given its darker atmosphere.
>kiddified
prime 2 is the most difficult metroid game, unfortunately hard mode needs to be unlocked after a first playthrough though if you're emulating I'm sure you can bypass that
>>714053253
I'm considering the new varia suit design new because the shape is far more feminine than any previous version. I liked the PED when Prime 3 came out but after replaying it recently I realized how masculine it looks.
Dread and Prime 4 are are making the right decision by having her look unmistakably female.
>>714053436
I prefer the bulkier prime varia over the slim one to be honest. I'm ok with the slimmer varia here in prime 4 because it's done in service of the new suit. I don't like Dread's suit at all
>>714053378
Prime 2 is the most difficult Prime game. The original Metroid, Fusion's Japanese exclusive hard mode and Dread are the hardest games in the series.
>>714053527 >OG metroid
not hard, more like retarded in how you need to locate kraid
>japanese fusion hard mode
played it, not as hard as prime 2 on hard. Majority of the enemies including bosses are cleared by mindlessly spamming missiles their way
>Dread
You have an argument with Dread mode but otherwise no, Dread's enemy/boss moves are highly telegraphed and easy to avoid once you become familiar with their limited movepools with rare exceptions
>>714053526
I love the Dread suit. Prime 1 was cool because the weird proportions suited the bizarre art style of the game but I like it when you can tell she's a girl. The Fusion suit is the worst in the series.
>>714053667
OG Prime 1 varia is fucked up, I was talking more along the lines of prime 2/3 and the remastered suit which incorporates elements of the prime 2 varia
>fusion suit is the worst in the series
agreed there
>>714053731
No, you're right, I died a bunch on normal mode...but went through hard with a single death. This is because, again, once you know enemy patterns/moves, it's incredibly easy to dodge them in Dread (this applies to SR as well). The difficulty of dread comes from not really being able to anticipate what a boss is going to do on a blind run.
Contrast this with prime 2 where boost guardian or emperor ing are a challenge everytime on hard mode even if you know their movesets
>>714053763
Yes the changes made to the varia suit in Prime 2 and 3 were great. Especially in the butt region. Personally I was not a fan of the light suit though lots of people seem to love it, my favorite was the dark suit.
>>714053831
Omega Pirate still fucks me up on hard sometimes. Especially in remastered where they got rid of the ice troopers susceptibility to freezing + missile.
Mercury Steam's approach to bosses is different which is why they're hard initially. You're gonna die a few times until you memorize the patterns. I intentionally take long breaks between playthroughs so I don't memorize them very well to keep it fresh.
>>714054390
Yeah, MS's enemy design is very telegraphed/clockwork in design. This wouldn't be much of a problem except bosses have like 6 moves in total barring raven beak who has a few more.
Omega pirate is tough but gets a lot easier once you realize Power bombs fuck up his armor.
>>714053436
I like the new proportions, I was a bit iffy on it from the reveal trailer but the Treehouse footage showed more angles and poses where it looks great, and she still has bulk which is specially noticeable whe she stands close to GF Troopers
I think it's going to be just okay. A perfectly serviceable revision that doesn't really do anything revolutionary and is in fact somewhat backwards in some aspects. Just like Dread.
>>714055149
2 has emulation issues. It stutters and slows down even on high end gaming PCs. The actual GCN version had noticeable slowdown in many places. It's not surprising, just look at it, the game still looks phenomenal.
>>714055226
active development on this version of prime 4's only been 6 years (consider covid hit and slowed them down + they needed extra dev time for the switch 2 version)
>>714054819
designs in general look great so far. Sylux's base design is unchanged from hunters but looks a lot better with just some basic proportion alterations
>>714050735 (OP)
Listen Prime was fucking great back in the day, but 2D Metroid is just superior. Prime 4 psychic powers reveal felt underwhelming, even Prime 2 which was kind of "gaiden-y" felt more interesting with the light and dark themes
>>714055951 >felt more interesting with the light and dark themes
You know Prime 4 has this right, except it's a lot more involved with two entirely different planetscapes instead of mostly being similar. We haven't even seen the major new mechanic of Prime 4 with the new suit yet.
anons
I just had the best idea ever
some kind of plastic casing shaped like the arm cannon
but you put the joycon in it and use motion controls
and press buttons inside it like samus
I would buy the SHIT out of it
>>714055672
Sylux' new model looks amazing, also I'm thinking we're going to control one of the Golem mechs with the new phiki powers at one point in the game since we see one all mangled up in Viewros
>>714058186
Im a little worried about this myself, but the weird yonic architecture seen in the Lamorn structures gives me hope it'll have a cool art direction
