Which side were you on 20 years ago?

>>714058708 (OP)Everyone had a DS except "that one kid" with the PSP. For me it was some douchey kid who wanted to be cool but wasn't accepted by the cool kids either. He had that MLB game for PSP and nothing else.
Though you sometimes had the spoiled kid that got both. But that kid always played DS.
I forgot how objectively terrible the original DS hardware was
I was spoiled so I owned both
>>714058708 (OP)I had a DS, and think it was probably better in the sense of it being stand alone, but the PSP could play PS1 games and that's pretty fucking sick

Legendary.
>>714058825Same. I got a DS for Christmas 2004 and a PSP for my birthday in April the next year.
>>714058825based richboy. I was the same. The DS messenger app was so good for me and my friends to message each other at school when we had to be sneaky
I was on the side of video games, the device I play on doesn't matter - still on that same side now.
>>714058708 (OP)I had both. 2 DS, DS Slim, a PSP and a PSPLite
>>714058960or was it a PSP slim and a DS Lite. I cant remember.
>>714058824Every person I knew that owned a DS phat had a broken hinge except me. It was kind of a piece of shit in hindsight. I don't get why they didn't just place the hinges further out.
>>714058708 (OP)I had the DS, but I got a PSP around 2014 and I realised how much I was missing out. Both were great consoles.
>>714059094That's how it was with the DS Lite for me. Never had an issue with the phat though.
I was always that one kid who had Nintendo handhelds primarily for Pokmeon and would then just get random shovelware given to me occasionally by family
Didn't own a DS Phat at first, went straight from a GBA to a Lite, but my cousin owned one and I played on that a few times before I owned Diamond/Pearl
Bought one a few years back (and actually just had a second one arrive today for recording purposes), it's a shame the screens on the Phat are so shit and the shell material becomes super brittle over time because they're much comfier for adult hands than Lites (not to mention the GBA carts sit flush instead of sitting out in an easily shiftable position), probably the comfiest DS design overall with the DSi XL just behind
Anyway all this is to say that my old man had a PSP but not much for it other than a couple of sports games, ended up taking it home after he went blind, Is there anything on the system worth playing nowadays other than Peace Walker?
>>714058708 (OP)The one that actually had games.
>>714058821For me everyone had a PSP and was playing multiplayer dissidia during class.
I was the odd one with a ds

>>714058708 (OP)I had both
Somehow, I never saw a DS outside of my own but I did see a few PSPs with the common games being GoW and fucking Patapon
DS had way more games and I had a CyloneDS or whatever the fck it was called when I was like 12 years old. I pirated so much and it had so much soul, my fondest memory is playing soma bringer translated with my brother
>>714058708 (OP)Owned both because I wasn't a poorfag. DS was better though, but PSP introduced me to the Disgaea series so it'll always have a place in my heart
I got every major DS re-design as it came out but only jumped onto the PSP during the 3000 era. The PSP having PS2-lite level experiences absolutely melted my mind in a way that the DS did not. I loved the CFW community and all the fun ports and emulators people developed for it. The PSP came out in a pre-iPhone and pre-iPod Touch world, so having a small widescreen device that could play videos and browse the net was enormous. The only thing that's come close to capturing my interest in the same way has been the Steam Deck OLED, which is wonderful.
But in retrospect, I think the DS ultimately had the superior library and its games have "aged" a lot more gracefully. A lot of the best PSP games were scaled back PS2 experiences, and there's not much reason to revisit them when your phone or chinkheld can emulate real PS2 games instead. The PSP had its fair share of quirky, unique experiences, but the DS had a seemingly endless amount in comparison.
Not sure about "cool kids vs spergs" but here in Australia all the popular kids definitely had PSP's with GTA Vice City Stories while all the dorks were playing Pokemon on DS.
DS is great but for me it's the PSP
Dug out my PSP from 2008 and found softcore porn still on it. This is an extremely millennial moment.

>>714058708 (OP)20 years ago, I was 24 and was on my second car. I had no bus to play portables on.
>>714061993On one hand I'm glad I wiped all my MemorySticks from back in the day so nobody could potentially come across them, on the other It'd be fun to see the ancient vore from Eka's Portal I saved.
>>714061993I got stuff saved from old /b/ on mine.
>>714058708 (OP)I had both cuz my parents loved me
>>714059392Ace Combat X is the best game in the series... just remap the yaw to shoulder buttons.
>>714058708 (OP)I have multiple of both. The PSPs batteries are now bloated while the DSs still work.
>>714058708 (OP)Had both (still do) and preferred the PSP, played it way more. I think I was enchanted by how high tech it was back in the day. The PSP was a beautiful piece of hardware. Not to say the DS was bad, I did enjoy it too just not as much,
