Phoenotopia is never getting a sequel, even though both the Flash version and the remake teased one.

Advent Rising was not a good game. The only reason people even remember it is because it was written by Orson Scott Card.

It's the prevailing opinion. It was panned on release and it's not as if it's gained a cult following over the years. It's a mediocre game that barely anyone remembers and that isn't going to change.

You can remember it fondly, that's your prerogative. But don't expect anyone else to.

I'm not gonna say the game was secretly good or anything like that, but I do think its the sort of game that has a solid core to be refined and that could have had a lot of its major issues ironed out in a sequel. But it was never meant to be.

It's seems like it could be a nice game and all but this is an oddly upsetting development. It looks like a shapeshifter wearing the original game's skin when I'd rather have a sequel.
I guess it's nice that he's still working in game dev. Even looking at the screenshots, it seems like he wants to show off what he's learned from the mistakes he talked about in his blog.

Tommy Tallerico deserved a chance to prove to everybody that he couldn't make music.
I say that with all due respect. The tracks are great.

It didn't deserve a sequel. It was an absolutely garbage game that blew its money on music and hiring OSC. Mediocre to bad gameplay. Backwards ass, save system. Using bink video or whatever when the fucking models are right fucking there. Stupid fucking choice of making you pick between your brother or your girlfriend and making whichever you didn't pick the villain. There's so much fucking wrong with this game which is a shame because it could have been so fucking good.

That's simply not true. As terrible as they are now, once upon a time, they actually made some great games

It's apparently inherent in humans, but is along this trope where "actually humans existed and were more advanced than anything, but then they went extinct, before they went extinct they created what would become them again on earth with advanced science.

The writing wasn't even the good part of it, it was a third person shooter with psychic powers that let you fling enemies into space long before any Star Wars game had done something similar competently.

IIRC the sequel was planned to be made for the PSP so it probably would've sucked and been a massive downgrade even if it did come out.

He doesn't actually have any defense for the game. It's a shit game and he feels the need to be a massive contrarian to feel like he's some special snowflake with superior tastes so he's claiming that everyone is wrong about it being garbage and that it's actually a misunderstood masterpiece

What I most know this game for is that Tommy Tallarico always shoved it into Video Games Live, since he owned the rights to the music.

Arkane made their magnum opus and then immediately went to shit. I don't even know what happened there but there's no way they would be able to make a competent sequel if their output since is anything to go by.

>best director
It was the freaking founder of the studio, wasn't it?

Honestly he should have sucked it up and stayed on. Pic related was just disappointingly mid to me. I think we put too much stock in the auteur idea, there were clearly a ton of great creatives at Arkane that he was able to tard wrangle into making something amazing like Prey. Now nobody wins. He's stuck making shitty indie games and Arkane is probably not going to exist for much longer.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt since Weird West was very different from his usual style of games. His next game is a real immersive sim.
