Instead of buying retard LED strips in purple and red, instead of buying modern shit soulless table, why dont you build and decorate your room like a regular japanese room?
It's so much pleasing to the eyes

led strip is much better than nightlight, modern desk, or better yet just a piece of countertop screwed to the wall is much more functional than any table, and above all your mum will see your siluete through these paper sliding door as you jerk off.

If you're talking specifically about that image, I can assume one of two things in that either there was a door where they've set up their little entertainment center, or that there wasn't, and that space is there to establish a dedicated display area that doesn't extend into the walkable space and also utilizes a space that was partitioned for that little storage space in the back corner of the image. Chances are that what's behind that door is a very small space that's not good for bulk storage, but is good for little stuff. I'm not an expert on japanese homes but it all makes sense in my head.

I've been around Japan a ton and I actually don't care for the uncomfortable, outdated traditional room design. What I really wished we had back in the US were how their bathrooms are waterproof from the ceiling down and you clean it by just soap scrubbing and blasting the entire room with the showerhead. We can't really do that here in the US for a number of reasons, but you could at least do a waterproof floor and a line drain to get a similar feel.

If anyone is curious, USA doesn't do this because that style of bathroom doesn't breathe well and requires regular cleaning to avoid becoming moldy and irreparably ruined, and it only really works in the context of Japan where 99% of the population are clean freaks.

They have those but they only do so much, not like you wanna leave a fan on all the time. And yeah the design is inherently dirty, it requires cleaning every few days vs. American bathrooms which can go a week or two before getting gross. Walk in showers are really annoying if the room is designed without enough barrier for the shower area

I've been thinking about redecorating my home office and am torn designs.

I already have a wood and iron desk and shelves. So I've been thinking of painting the walls a nice, dark green or earthy tone and embracing my growing interest in plants. But Expedition 33 reignited my liking for art deco. But I'd have to get new furniture, and the style seems like a bit much for a home office in an otherwise bland, normal house.

Maybe I should compromise and do green/gold art deco instead of blue/gold or black/gold like I was originally thinking? I don't know. I just need a change of scenery.

You need to understand how to use power tools SAFELY. You can lose your eyes and fingers/hands if you are not careful. You need to understand how to cut wood, use mid range priced tools at lowes such as kobolt of craftsmen.

those are sliding doors made of special paper. You cant get stuff that is close to paper doors at hobby lobby. Those door need hinges that slide, they sell small ones for cabinets at lowes (stay away from home depot, ace is okay but is over priced and has less stuff), be creative, you would need as many for the bottom of you door mounted to a part of a wall (connect two different parts of each rail to studs, top and bottom of the door. Then just cover the hinges. All of the wooden trim and paneling can easily be made with just standard two by four's cut to shape. DO NOT cheep out on safty, wear SAFETY RATED 3M glasses while you use any power tool, you are new and starting out but remember pros always were safety everything, maybae something to gaud your whole face and teeth would be a good idea. Treating the wood is not a problem, you can by paint brush and the wood stainer for the wood at lowes as well (keep windows and garage door open, that suff can kill you if oyu or a pet breathes it in). The light is just a paper box around a standard light fixture. If you use incandescent lights remember they get hot and paper and wood go on fire, make sure nothing rests on the light bulbs and nothing gets to hot.
