Jesus, these threads. This shit is so fucking demoralizing as a game dev because I could never create a game that generates this kind of constant discussion. Even if these threads are primarily shipping and schizo theories, you all care about Deltarune enough to talk about it near endlessly, to make fanart and discuss the characters and pick apart their motivations.
And that's great, but it's so disheartening knowing that nothing I make will ever capture peoples interest like this. I don't even care about making money with game dev, I just want people to talk about my game and care about it enough to connect with my characters and craft theories about my worlds. But these threads, seeing the way you all are so attached to Deltarune, it just makes me want to give up and not even bother. The last thing I'd ever want is a story I lovingly crafted with meticulous care to end up being completely ignored, and if everyone just wants to talk Delrarune then maybe I shouldn't even try and save myself the heartbreak.

To make it brief, it’s hard to summarize a novel so i’ll list more similarities. Otherworldly guy gives lessons to a young boy on how to achieve [[FREEDOM]], which seems to apply abstractly to many DT chars. Anon this isn't unique to Deltarune. Long before we had Suselle/Kriselle shipping wars, there were constant threads about Friday Night Funkin'. And Stardew Valley. And Breath of the Wild.
There's a lot of discussion now because Chapters 3 and 4 just came out. That doesn't mean we don't like other games or obsess over other games. Honestly, Deltarune isn't going to last forever, and we're going to need another game to constantly talk about when its over, or in the lull periods between chapters.
So make your game, anon. If you make it with heart and soul, people will talk about it. And then you'll get to experience the joys of people having meltdowns over you making tweets about which ships are canon.
