You build a party and go into a dungeon, the main gimmick is the roaming monsters (FOEs >>714088651) that will wreck your shit if you're not prepared and having to draw maps manually with the handy-dandy UI (originally on the second DS screen).
It has really good presentation and insanely good music and lolis, as far as gameplay goes it's an okay JRPG. A bit grindy though.
Of the ones available on Steam my favorite is 1 for the setting and the classes (broken as they are), but the objectively best one is 3.

Most good DRPGs rely more on party building and strategy than they do on pure grinding. While some do devolve into "hold X to autowin" and some do allow you to just grind until your stats are bigger than your problem's stats, that is rarely the only (and even more rarely the most optimal) solution.

I disagree, i think what makes a DRPG good truly is how fun it is to go through the dungeon. Some DRPGs just annoy the fuck out of you with hidden teleports, teleports connected to another side of the room, stupid traps that will make you enter a fight with an OP enemy etc.
I remember what i loved about the first Etrian Odyssey was the level design, i remember specially the first level where you had to "guide" the monsters to break certain pathways for you to be able go through them and progress. Compare that to something like Mary Skelter or Class of Heroes, first one is just a DRPG for gooners and CoH is purely about grinding.

Honestly I'd say only 3 is worth buying, it's a controversial opinion but for 1 and 2 you might be better off emulating the Untold version.

Or just pirate it (how fitting for the third game huh) since some intern released a Denuvo-less version on launch. And get a mod to fix the soulless font.
>>714090621
Sure, that too. I was just addressing the combat aspect since that's technically what the anon I replied to complained about.

being allowed to just grind makes it hard to know how much to do to get a decent experience. feels like these games should have some kind of anti-grind toggle or ruleset/heuristic to play under if you don't want to have to worry about that

You're not wrong either. I usually don't start grinding until I'm sure I've exhausted every possible option, but it still doesn't feel right sometimes. While I did say Etrian Odyssey a little grindy, comparatively speaking it's not too bad and actually has a decent curve for the most part until you get hard stuck on some wall

there are like 4 or 5 campaigns (1 behind a DLC). Aoe2 offers a lot more, but aoe4 is a more modern game and the civs are also more modern (Rus instead of Slavs, the French instead of Franks etc). Honestly, it's probably not worth it for that price if you just want to play campaigns. But who am I to judge what is worth what to you. I wouldn't say Uncharted is close to the new Tomb Raider games, mainly because TR trilogy are games with hubs and upgrades. You get resources to upgrade stats of weapons and side quests to unlock attachments/other shit.

I prefer how Uncharted handles it, further in the game the enemies carry better shit and you just loot what they use. It feels really scrappy and you blast some dude and just take his shit and swing away in Uncharted 4.

ATLYSS possibly. ActionRPG
Lost Castle 2 is a good one though it's 15 bucks. Beat'em'up.
Wild Woods is kinda cute but simple and not a lot of content yet. Action-adventure.
Necesse if you like Terraria-likes.
Keplerth if you've already played Necesse to death.
Sephiria has cool itemization and is fairly satisfying to play. But it's also 15 bucks. Action-Roguelite.
Gatekeeper if you want a top down Risk of Rain 2 but with itemization that is deeper than "6 gorillion random damage ticks every time you press attack". You can have actual proper synergies in this game. However less content right now.
Dome Keeper is a really nice wave defense + digger game. It has no coop right now, but it will sometime in the future.

The only person irl I ever talked to about the game was a girl I had a massive crush on that I never told because she was a lesbian and I wasn't confident enough to see if she was maybe bi(she was also weird as shit and meowed at me one day).
Frankly, playing that game in any other context is an incomplete experience. Just play NEO, and if you ever play the original do your best to match my context without killing yourself.

I thought so going into it, but because the world isn't procgen there's a lot more actual exploring to do with interesting secrets. The NPCs are annoying but you can set them to stop roaming and just jam them in a corner and only talk to them when you need crafting done or if they have a new sidequest. The crafting is a bit deeper than Valheim and the combat has a lot more variety to it. They're certainly very similar games, but Enshrouded ended up feeling more like playing a crafting-focused Elder Scrolls game and that level of structure made it a lot more tolerable.

no but that game looks really cool and the dev said he's going to start contacting english translators after some bug fixes and the game is cheap enough where I don't think it'll get a sale much deeper than what it's at now.
Also there's people in the reviews who are sucking it off despite having used MTL but since the dev already has plans for translation I probably won't go that route.

Games with great deduction and possibility for using your brain to solve the mystery and you are an actual detective: Return of the Obra Dinn (You are technically a insurance agent, but I will let it pass), Disco Elysium, The Roottrees are Dead, Ace Attorney, The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, The PainsCreek Killings, Tangle Tower, The Observer, Her Story,

Games with great deduction and possibility for using your brain to solve the mystery, but you are not really a specific detective: Paranormasight (you are not a detective, but great investigation), The Case of the Golden Idol, Infra, Forgotten City, Danganronpa and Who's Lila.

Ah, a fellow kusoge enjoyer. Don't bother with two-handed weapons, go for daggers. Otherwise you'll hate life in the third act, staggering enemies with every hit, but doing 1% damage. It ends rather abruptly on a cliffhanger that will go nowhere, but it's a curious enough world with compelling characters. The whole structure of the game is quaint, with small cramped maps that I found enjoyable. The combat is high stakes, but with enough of leeway to avoid damage. If you are having trouble surviving, that's on you.

I personally would rather talk up games I like rather than focus on the ones I don't.
Tastes don't always align on /v/ and I've seen people genuinely enjoy games I hate and I've genuinely enjoyed games others have hated. You just need to read their reasoning to find out if it aligns in what you want from a game. The best recommendations elaborate and I find the positive recommendations are more likely to do that than the negative ones.

Not sure why you buy Blasphemous 1 with 2 but ok. I know 1 is really good though, haven't gotten to play 2 yet.

You can't just install one game at a time?

Nta, but it is very short (couple hours) if you want a single playthrough. The goal is to play it multiple times, you don't get a "true" ending on first try.

Last time I checked you could install individual games from the collection on Steam. Compared to Xbox where you needed to download the whole package to play any of the games.
