>>714099237 (OP)>fuckYou fuckers know what's coming if you vote for this petition right? You know the consequences of inviting the government to intervene in the video games, knowing full well and probably lived through the 90s to 2000s where it was full of paranoid and delusional old men trying to dictate the rules and censor the fuck out of everything right? This is going to be even worse than that because now you have those same old men who now see the monetary incentive to fuck shit up and you fuckers are straight up kicking and screaming to come save you.
This won't be the government salvation you guys are hoping for, this won't even be the corpo vs government clash either, this will come entirely at your expense. They WILL fuck your shit up, anyone that has been around long enough knows not to trust the government and it's appalling to me that none of you can see Ross as the glowie that he clearly is. Why else would he go to such lengths to push this shit and throw on a full mask under the guise of caring for destroyed games? Why else has there been such a massive outbreak of supposed ecelebs throwing their weight into this all of the sudden when the natural response was to veer as far away as possible from this clear glowie psy op? They know now that they can get some headway and they've been going into overdrive to push for this and you idiots are falling for it.
If there's any among you that still possesses a brain, I implore you to not sign this shit. Don't give it attention, don't give it any time of day. This shit has so many malicious layers to it that it would be wise to not interact with it at all, and to say nothing on the long term ramifications against the average consciousness should it go through. Do you really believe that you aren't throwing away your personal information for the government to "leak away" in a year's time when this is over?

>>714099526So imagine you go and buy a product, its yours to keep. Simple idea. You own that product until it stops working, you get a warranty within a certain period, it works within the confines of whatever you use it with (you bought the American Unit, so it works on 110 volts and within certain operating temperatures).
Now let's move it over to services. You buy a service to get your hair cut, you're not subscribing to a haircut service, so you know it's not unlimited, but when you check your appointment time, you can tell that the "service" lasts 30 minutes, you are paying for your hair to be cut for 30 minutes. You know exactly what you are paying and when that service will end, if it does.
Now for video games, this is the problem. When you buy that online game, you do not know when service ends (like for a multiplayer component of a single player game, or even authenticating with a server just to play the single-player portion - like DRM). This is actually a grey area in EU law and is potentially illegal for a dev to make you sign a EULA/Contract with this inside of it. Furthermore, even if you wanted to, you can't even mod the game to play it yourself because either the publisher will go after you, or reverse engineering from your side with your resources is a herculean task. This wouldn't apply to subscription games per say. Because your license does have an end date, it's when you stop paying money.
Stop Killing Games is designed to get all future games (after the law itself is passed, which will be debated to a huge extent) to allow the user to have access to the game in some way and essentially have an end-of-life plan. No, the developer doesn't have to host the files themselves; they just need to work with middleware companies ahead of time so they can redistribute the game in some kind of playable state to the players. Could be a crack for the DRM, could be server binaries without the copyright middleware, etc.
>>714100138Everyone does.
>>714100070What's wrong with making Ubisoft spend more money? Why are you defending the multi billion dollar corporation?
>>714100012 Yes we better give up any civil rights or basic human rights ability that should be guaranteed to the government like clean drinking water evil to not have glass in our Parks or anything that could get in the way of giving more profits to Giant corporations or holding them accountable to the corporations themselves. >>714101878The positives are overwhelming, the negatives are that a few live service games made by a fraction of the95 percent of devs making live service games RIGHT NOW, might not survive.
If a good game comes out, gets support for 5 years, then gets shut down, I can still potentially play that game, with community servers that ban bots, cheaters, etc, and they will have free time to make mod tools instead of just getting the game playable to add more content. I want to play good games forever, I don't want to keep playing the newest slop designed to waste my time and sanity.
Good example is Titanfall 2 Northstar. They are STILL trying to get that game fully working but it's missing content from the base game. Now Titanfall 2 isn't gone yet, but TItanfall 1 is. So if I wanna play Titanfall 1 maps/content (which I do) I have to wait for this community to do all of that, which is going to take years because they are porting Titanfall 1's content to 2 because that's the most logical thing to do at this point. If this law was already in effect I could hop on right now and fucking play it.
During the previous threads americans, shills and other “people” failed to provide comprehensive answers the following questions:
1. Why is it bad to force government you elected to represent your interests
2. Why is it bad to have more consumer rights and better protection for them
3. Why should an average person read hundreds of pages of agreement he gets AFTER the purchase and gamble on his knowledge of exact laws governing this and perfect understanding of all the edge cases of the phrasing used instead of expecting good service by default?
4. Who except kike publishers will benefit from this initiative NOT passing?

Property rental contracts in most EU states require a fixed term and renew automatically unless suitably advance notice is given that the tenant is going to be evicted at the end of the rent term. Many states also feature a form of tenure, where the longer someone has rented the same property the harder it becomes to not renew their term and allow them to stay on, and increasingly stronger evidence of the need to evict the tenant has to be provided through a court.
