It's meh. If you want better story and gameplay try Tactics Ogre. If you only care about the visuals you should try UC. Any other Vanillaware since it's better though.

Yeah it’s a lot of fun tinkering with your squads and watching them mow through enemies and you can have Human Male x Female Anthro romance with the best dodgetank in the game

way too easy but the team building is fun
Some of the optional content is difficult but since it's all single fights you can build a team specifically to counter that one fight every time so it's not quite the same as if they made the main game more difficult.
