i like how the open world gives you a lot of freedom as far as how you progress, and there is some discoverability it provides, but it also could be about a tenth of the size and the game would only benefit from it.

Hrmph. You call this game hard? It was so easy. I beat it while half asleep. Didn't even dodge much either. Heh. I bet you all had a hard time against a buncha bosses and I one-shot ALL OF THEM!! (not that it's worth bragging about on account of being so EASY) I honestly don't get the point of these games they're just too easy? Honestly why even bother playing an easy game like what's the point? Yawn. Boring. Stupid lore too, none of it even made any sense. If you think about it, everything about the game is total ass and it's the worst game of all time and the second half goes to shit so I never even bothered going any further than Ornstein and Smough on my 12 other characters and the PVP is so easy noobs are just incredible easy to pwn. It takes literally no thought whatsoever and I've only ever died because I lagged. Now competitive pokemon, that's a true challenge.

They are, but there are newer european style castles that were built to mimic the visual style of older truly defensive castles. Basically rich people wanted castles still, but they had begun losing their viability in defending, so they just cosmetically copied features. Plus a lot of those holes had wooden hatches on them and could be closed up.

Yes, machicolations. For Sen's Fortress, it should've had them, but a lot of games don't include them because it's more taxing on the system. Dragon's Dogma even had something cute where they had these wooden trapdoors to open and close. It wouldn't be enough to repel attackers, but it's nice to see.
Something I did notice in DS3 at High Wall of Lothric is how all those rooftops have no way to access them. Meaning rain, snow, or possibly leaves will pile on and eventually cause the structure to collapse.

I don't even remember flying dudes. But if that's the case, why even have the towers there at all? If legged people can't use them, then there's no reason to build them. If it's just for housing, then could've built larger squared structures.

>If legged people can't use them
Dude, Lothric is a stratified society. Yet they all exist in harmony, everyone fulfilling their roles to keep the whole working. There is no reason to commit extra resources to make passageways to the roofs since the flying guys can take of it. This might seem like an ableist issue to you but remember than one of the princes was paraplegic and unable to walk on his own. He doesn't keep the non-flyers out of the roof out of spite. They all do what they are best at.

B-but then whats the point of the towers then...? It's not any invaders are going to be able to scale the mountain and there aren't even any windows, so it's not like you could look out the towers even if a legged person walked up there on the inside. The towers serve no purpose... is what >>714155701 say is true, that Prince Lothric just gave pointless jobs to make his rulership look better to others?

The flying guys ferry crossbowmen to the towers in times of siege. You underestimate the power of aerial mobility in warfare and city planning.

Sen's Fortress, relative to other levels, wasnt seen as an extremely hard part of the game when it released.
Iron Golem is one of the easiest bosses in the game, and can get solo'd by Tarkus.
It was just an extremely fun and well designed section.

Sen's Funhouse.

That's how we know you're lying.
Shit like Blighttown that barely ran, or the Dragonslayer Greatbros, and other very broken shit is what people bitched about.

Dark souls 2 had good lighting even after the downgrade, Bloodbornes lighting worker for that, dark souls 3 had awful lighting because they tried to make it look like Bloodborne or something so everything is gray. I don't think there's anything wrong with the lighting outside ds3

Apparently I'm dead wrong too, original japanese is "Sen's Old Fortress" where Sen is written as a name. Sen possibly could have been a wip title for Seethe seeing as the fortress is stocked with his snake men, if it's not that likely Sen is just some character who's not around anymore but previously owned the fortress entrance to anor londo

Dark souls had that fun middle ground of having artwork because not too many people enjoyed the game. So fan art was just to make people laugh.

Now its just goonbait and references shoved in with watermarks.
