god of war 3 is great, dyling light is great, dishonored looks fun (haven't played), fallout 4 sucks, minecraft sucks (after the hunger update), farcry 4 sucks, lego batman sucks, all persona games pale in comparison to mainline SMT or even other spinoffs.

I think Retro studios does a great job at handling the DKC IP, might be because I grew up with it but I think it's basically everything you could ask for out of one. Plus I really like the difficulty.

it does not look, feel, or play like a DKC game. it isn't a bad game, but it feels like it is spitting on the OG trilogy. maybe i am just a supreme autist, but had it been called something else such as "donkey kong island", i would like it more. like i said, it isn't bad. don't hate my time spent with it. but i was expecting something very different when they put the "country" label on it.

Hard to pick 16 games since I limit myself to one per series. Don't really wanna do the rating thing so I'll just make some comments on games on different charts.

that's the PCE-CD version where they're smash together as one game. I generally prefer the level design of Ys 2 but the pacing of Ys 1.

Haven't gotten to Prime 2 yet, but I loved Prime and Dread. Still need to play DDS 1 and 2 but I've had choice paralysis for my next Megaten game between Last Bible II, Majin Tensei II, and both DDS games.

Dishonored's great, although I didn't care for FO4 or Minecraft at all. I haven't played any of the others. Why Reload over the original, FES, or portable? I haven't touched Persona so I'd be curious to know what fans like about rereleases of different games in that series.

I was streaming DKC2 for a friend and having a great time with it, I should finish that game. MGSV was a lot of fun, although I wish there were more closed off facility areas in the game; indoor stealth is fun too.

I turn 24 this year but I have a somewhat boomer taste in gaymes. I played a lot of these with my older brother growing up but then also revisited them later because I'm a fan of retro games in general, they make me feel comfy.
I played the first zelda this year and I had way more fun with it than I thought it would. The first mother also ended up being my favorite game of the series which is surprising because I never managed to finish the other 2.

Admittedly if you thought Next wasted your time idk if you'll like Revival. It's definitely one of my favorite games but it's also got a lot to it that you'll either love or hate. You level up both magic and melee separately, and need to visit a church to get your next title once you have enough experience to level up. However, if you got any karma from killing "good" enemies, you'll need to purge it by drinking poison, which always damages you for half your current health. There's only so many enemies and items in the game, and if you totally run out of resources without a way to progress you're softlocked by design. That being said it was a really fun challenge and I never ended up softlocking. It's got other weird things too, like the stats being not what you'd expect. Dexterity determines how fast you open chests, and charisma lowers shop prices. If you throw out a projectile spell and it hits a chest or item, it's gone forever with an "Oops!" message printed. I was constantly thinking about my gold, hunger, and leveling up gear and even consumables as I played, and felt absolutely triumphed when I finished it. Revival Xanadu's main feature for me personally was the added music, it's all fantastic stuff.
Onto your games, I really enjoyed Demon's Souls and co-oping Grim Dawn with some friends. I think DeS has the best atmosphere of the Souls games. I've been debating giving Dawn of War a try, is Soul Storm your favorite for single or multiplayer?

Recently got a PS5, decided to check it out. Got it cheap. My biggest complaints are that Angela is fucking ugly (even compared to her in-engine model in the OG) and everyone's voice acting besides James' sucks ass. As for the new puzzles, I liked having something new to solve versus a carbon copy of the original, and the combat mostly feels decent, a little less braindead than in the OG. Will probably sell it after getting at least most of the endings. I'm probably locked in for "Leave" since I'm playing with good health most of the time, IMO the most boring fucking ending in the series.

the original has its positives, but i don't ever think about replaying it. i couldn't imagine going through a remake of it that gets the RE2 remake treatment. giving it more combat focus just does not seem to be the move.

I dunno, I think the remake is pretty decent. I'm about 5 hours in. I'll take the ability to fight back over those games where all you have the option of doing is run away. Shattered Memories would have been fucking great if not for those awfully executed chase sequences.
