Do people actually like the Souls bosses in Nightreign outside of nostalgiafagging? You move much faster and have way more stamina in Elden Ring compared to early Souls. Word of advice with bits I noticed after looking over my recording of a great run my friends and I had

His HUGE flurry with the twinblade is directionally locked for each flurry until he pauses, so if you can dodge PAST him the rest will all whiff and you only have to dodge once (also in general he has trouble hitting near him and behind)

His dashing attack + AoE can be avoided by just turbo sprinting to the side, then away after the last charge so you avoid the spread blast. You can also just sprint away from his ultimate arrow when you know you're being targeted by it.

Always back off when he fires into the air, then sprint sideways while curving in to avoid the arrow rain (it tracks only slightly)

Plus general bits, he's REALLY weak to status as well as lightning, so poison, rot, and frostbite are all fantastic.

Like the first niggernon said randos are a mixed bag. I ALWAYS come in ready to be flexible, ready to accommodate their shitty routing or overprioritizing earlygame/easy enemy camps and churches. But when they're lagging behind by a full minute and dying constantly you cant "adapt" to that aside from literally just getting gooder at nightlords.
Other times though they range from workable shitters to solo queue legends you wish you could always have on your team. It is a mixed bag. You can git gud enough to basically always make it to the nightlord (the boss that caps off runs) but the win isn't always guaranteed unless your dodges are 100% on point (not impossible at all, just requires grinding out the fights)

A knight of Eochaid would be really cool for the dancing blade move set, and it's something that has a good proof of concept in Elemer but wouldn't fit a normal Elden Ring move set too well, thus making it a good fit for Nightreign.

As for the other DLC character, I think the hero of Castle Morne could work almost like a blacksmith type of character. Various weapons that would normally be discarded can be fused together to provide certain bonuses, with one weapon being selected as the basis for which the other two will be made augments for. A unique ability can be providing a buff to the entire group that's based on what weapons have been used for fusions, thereby creating a variety of buffs that can be made and assigned to certain stats a la the Grafted Blade Greatsword's ability in Elden Ring. Another ability could be to use all of the weapons for some kind of super attack, like the individual arts of each forged weapon being used at once, at the cost of destroying the wielded weapon back to a single weapon. You could also potentially have the Frenzied Flame fuel this burst of power and destruction of the weapons, since the Frenzied Flame is gaining a foothold in locations and events at the Weeping Peninsula in Elden Ring and could thus perhaps affect the hero as well. This could be the ult, or the ult could be the flying skeleton fire breath from Elden Ring that would probably do a lot of damage to bosses.

A hornsent could be neat too, essentially fighting by wielding various storms and generating larger and larger storms for greater attacks. There could also be a degree of spirit calling to harness the abilities or ults of fallen allies, but if no allies have fallen, it could be some kind of super storm or horn calling attack instead. However, it might be impractical to be able to create a feature for the player to decide between whether they just want the default ult or to use a fallen ally's ult.

If you can powerstance with huge weapons, do so. If not, jumping R2 and fully charged R2s.Treat your character skill almost like a parry and you'll see how much counterattack damage you can stack up. Also make sure to pick up any increased crit damage effects, since you're gonna stance break so often and be right there for the crits it's pivotal - plus you will do an obscene amount of damage fast. I once had a Raider build where I critted Astel for something like 6,000 damage.

Duchess was the last character I tried because I heard a lot of bad experience with her from others. By the time I finished other 7 characters' remembrance and beat nightlord with them I already memorized most bosses' patterns and knew what to build for C/D health scaling characters, so I haven't fucked up with her since.

Why didn't they add Elden ring's DLC weapons to this game? I actually don't mind if they reuse assets for a game like this one but I don't understand why they were so reserved. Light greatswords are probably my favorite weapon type in the entirety of the souls franchise and having it in this game would make it so much better. Why not bring back Friede's scythes, ringed knight greatswords and other cool shit from the previous titles, modders can do it in singleplayer.
