Playing this game for the first time, was the race with Smithers at the end of Homer's section supposed to be stupidly hard? Or am I just bad at this game?

game has random difficulty spikes and a pretty high skill level it expects you to reach. It gets way harder desu esp if you intend to beat the "real end" halloween section
I seem to recall, having played this not long after it came out, that yes, it was stupidly hard. It wasn't impossible, but it was practically on par with GTA San Andreas train chase mission. Kinda funny considering the game felt geared towards a younger audience.

Replayed hit and run a couple weeks ago and san andreas a few months ago, now that I have fully developed motor skills I think the Smithers race was actually more difficult, mostly because even if you're winning he comes out of nowhere and smokes you on the last stretch half the time.
