I don't mind office mice, but office keyboards suck shit for gaming.
>old decent keyboard died a few years back
>replaced it with a cheap office keyboard
>the actual look and feel of it is pretty good, but it has severe issues with multi-row inputs
>makes it very difficult to play games where you want to hold w + strafe + some other input because it'll drop the third button until you release one of the other two
It's alright for RTS, but it sucks in first person shooters or space games

I don't know why but I feel much more comfortable using cheap office mice than expensive ones.
I once bought a 50 dollar one that was recommended in /g/ and I it sucked, then I bought some mouse in some Chinese place for 3 or 4 dollars and I used it comfortably for years.
I guess I got screwed with that $50 mouse but I don't pay much attention to it.

I have one of those. The keyboard shape and layout is extremely uncomfortable. The button quality is atrocious and the space is unusably bad. The mouse feels like utter shit on your hand and the scroll switches will wear out within hours. The cheapest logitech slop is infinitely more usable than this.

The difference between a cheap e-waste office mouse and an entry level gaming mouse is huge. There's literally no reason not to step up to the $30 tier and get something that's not complete dogshit.

The difference between an entry level gaming mouse and a $200+ gaming mouse is insignificant.

For me it was the wire, I am very specific about how I like to place and move the mouse and the wire always annoyed me.
Performance is as good as wireless, if there is an actual difference I can not detect it.
Went to some of those latency testing websites and the wireless had the same performance.
Got it for relatively cheap too, almost 40 euros.

After an adjustment period, mostly of acclimating to a vertical mouse in the first place and not specifically to the M618XSD, I'm about where I was for first-person games like Mordhau and TF2. I don't have any problems past that learning curve. I don't really do "high level play" per se but I'm decent at Mordhau and I'll generally be mid-high on scoreboards in TF2 pubs.

A normal mouse simulates touching things with your fingertips, and your physiology compliments this
Try to be precise with running the blade of your hand over something it's a lot harder because since birth you've been practicing touching and picking up things with your fingers, a normal mouse is much better

Rubber wires are the only ones that don't start fraying or collect dust bunnies. Unless you strip off the braid and paracord it, it's heavier too.

Hence the super-ergonomic idea behind vertical mice. Use one for a few days and normal mice legit become very, very uncomfortable to go back to using again.

I actually chose that M618XSD mouse for that exact reason, without that goofy platform on the bottom (magnetically detachable) it's small enough that I can "fingertip grip" the mouse like a more typical one.
