Marvel vs Capcom Infinite got screwed by Disney, who at the time were basically trying to suppress the X-Men and Fantastic Four as their film rights were owned by 20th Century Fox.

Disney pushing the MCU hard and making the Marvel roster in MVCI absolute shit. But that's not even the half of it.
Regressing back to 2v2, the game looking worse than some 360/PS3 games, Infinity Stone system being hot garbage and the fact that DBFZ, a much better looking CLONE, was releasing a few months later are the main reasons I think of that gave this game like a 2-3 month lifespan. Even Capcom gave up on it 3 months in.

Because the success of DBFZ showed people WANT to play MvC that's somewhat similar and fun.
When that died off there was a power vacuum in the Tag Fighter genre and now there's 5 of them coming out in the next year but you have to actually try when making it so I'm sure 4 of them will die off and one will be over all of them, most likely Tokon.

Mvc3 is too old at this point and Infinite sucked. Back in 2017 Marvel films were still all the rage so I imagine they were hesitant on giving away rights again for a new fighting game. We're already years past the (financial) peak so it's no surprise we're getting a new Marvel fighting game again.

My fucking MAN. Personally, I'm addicted to their ratio tournaments. Here's hoping someday someone other than IHeartJustice actually figures out that Phoenix Wright is a totally sick pick that's a steal at 1 if you don't just immediately go for shield > evidence search spam.
