what can you even call these in english? they seem to have unique names everywhere they're common in europe, I'm norwegian and we call them rundstykker, translates to round pieces

Probably Rustic or crusty bread. They exist in America but they're more expensive than 'normal' bread. Part of the issue is volume, boomers love 'normal' bread so until they all die their shit bread will always be the most economical.
