New CPUs have different microarchitectures that make them vastly more efficient because they do a lot of heuristics and optimize instructions. So what once were single threads are now actually split into multiple threads by the CPU itself, rather than developers having to program for it. These people got a reality check when Zen / Intel equivalent rolled around, because all of the sudden new games performed really fucking badly for them, because those games were built around new CPU features. You can make this retarded argument for GPUs too "abloo bloo why do we need anything better than vertex shader v1 since all the games ran fine on windows 95???", no you needed to upgrade to a GPU compatible with vertex shader 2, 3, 4, etc because the games around it were built for those to deliver a better performing game. I only upgraded my video card from an AMD RX 570 4G to a RTX 4060 8GB recently to play FF7 Rebirth which requires D12 "Ultimate". Got the impressions 4060s were bad after what little research I did but this thing is great and I got it for relatively cheap.

It's really not that expensive. I built a computer in like 2015 and used it to play all games until 2025 only upgrading gfx card once for like 400 usd before the PSU blew up while gaming. I reused some parts of that computer to build a new one, but I could have also just spent 200 USD to replace the PSU and continued gaming.

1650 is only 6 years old, there are extremely few games that came out since then that are worth playing, that card can easily clear everything <2019, and of the games that did come out that are worth playing it still runs them if you compromise a little on graphics
