There's literally no reason to keep playing once you've caught up on the story (which is actually pretty good) unless you just really like checking in for your dailies. What it needs is a strategy game that acts as the setup and reason for the tactics portion, like the XCOM overworld (but making this deep and rewarding is easier said than done when your hands are tied by a gacha system). And it also needs XCOM-tier levels.

People vastly overstate GFL2 as a coomer game. The game is quite playable in public if you do the following:

1. Turn off the cutscenes for ultimates. Those get old fast anyway.
2. Abstain from using "those" skins. That's easy because those skins like the one in OP's pic look ridiculous in post-apoc anyway.
3. All dormitory activities such as giving gifts are to be done before or after going out in public.
4. Recruitment is to be done before or after going out in public due to some of the recruitment cutscenes.

It's not difficult. I've been freely playing this game outdoors without any problems.

The tinker steps on ProtonDB and adding launch commands don't work for me. Maybe it's my Linux distro, but I can't be bothered to try other ones to see if it works. I'm happy with Linux Mint. Or maybe it's my hardware, but I can't change / upgrade right now. Also, I find it weird / don't understand why that I have to use an older (Steam) Proton version 6.3-8 for GFL2 to launch, other versions don't work, including GE-Proton. I wish I could just use the latest version 10.0-1 (beta) and everything would work, but apparently it doesn't work that way. Oh well. At least I can still play it. Those missing animations aren't necessary, it just would be nice.
