A lot of it is because you could just have a scantily clad female and then the scenario is just as serious as before, which is what makes it so great/hot. People just cannot comprehend this now. It is also why Stellar Blade is so nice. Despite all the sexy outfits Eve has, the story takes itself 100% seriously. You can be in a bikini in the cutscene, but the narrative is still completely serious just the same. Modern audience calls these games gooner games and can only think about sex and porn, but games like this actually still have good gameplay, good visuals, decent stories, good production values, are well designed, etc... I used to remember memes about how silly cheats in GTA 4 were, because of the context of Niko using a flip phone.
