>>714203607I used to remember memes about how silly cheats in GTA 4 were, because of the context of Niko using a flip phone. Now I miss that so crazy, even spawning in a car is just a lazy explained away mechanic, like in Saints Row or Cyber Punk. I hate this idea that games shouldn't be 'gamey' or silly to some degree. And some of the sillieness that does persist, feels like legacy/nostalgia wank (look at the new Dope Fish reveal in Dark Ages, it's hardly even an Easter Egg).
Milking cosmetics in a live service setting, I get to a degree. There's arguments that could be made, that those help fuel servers and longevity of a game. But when the fucking singleplayer game, locks rewards that could be for a Hard mode completion behind a limited paywall- it's so fucking dumb.
Movies don't do this with their director's cuts or deleted scenes.
