I hate overblown romance plots in RPGs.
In real life you tolerate listening to a girl yap endlessly on about her fucking problems and emotional state because you get to fuck her.

I have no idea. I romanced jaheria and it was a mess getting it to work. It breaks constantly and pretty much requires fast forward cheats but i did like the writing, it fell apart when i replayed it and tried to romance viccy and it became very obvious that it was going to be the same thing. Hearing a woman bitch constantly about her issue, its bizzare because they only brought up you as a person like twice. Like you really don’t matter in the conversation which is weird because im the soon to be god the story centers on lol. Its 99% if the time just them bitching with you having to select the clearly correct option over and over

People keep bitching about cut content from BG3, even though the vast majority is barely noticeable.

Meanwhile, in case of BG2, here's a list:
>Cyric's involvement reduced to a short cameo in ToB. He was supposed to be the one silently aiding the Bhaalspawn in Bg2 ("He has shown me how to make it vulnerable" from Imoen was in relation to him).
>Aerie's romance (considered unfinished).
>Viconia's romance (considered unfinished).
>Haer'Dalis and Valygar romances (cut completely).
>Aerie's and Minsc's personal quests.
>The larger Amaunator storyline (right now we have two completely unrelated, large quests that heavily feature him).
>The Illithid plotline (bits and pieces remaining).
>The three traitors (there were supposed to be three potential ones, and at New Game one would be chosen as "it"; instead only Yoshimo remained).
>Suldanessellar was supposed to be a full city, rather than a glorified battle arena.
>The same with the Sahuagin City; it even had an actual name.
>Imoen was supposed to die either after the Prologue or at Spellhold.
>Bodhi and Irenicus weren't at all related; this one was stitched on when the decision was made to spare Imoen, since now someone had to take her soul, as well.
>Bodhi was romanceable. That's why the godawful novelisation features it, since it was based on an earlier draft of the game's script.

Yes, after shes been reformed and settles down. She gets got by the spider queen for betraying her, checks out. She does her job and gives you an heir. He now has a great backstory to be a PC or companion. BG3 missed this and I don't trust BG4 not to be ass.

You can find a journal of "Abdel's" friend in BG3 in which he states that, despite knowing him for years, he never knew he was also Gorion's Ward, and that he knew absolutely nothing about his personal life.

Larian did the best they could with a bad deal, establishing that "Abdel Adrian" was essentially his public persona as the Grand Duke, while CHARNAME was the real person.

Scratch that, it was 4e that brought him back. Beacuse WotC had this stupid idea of lumping all gods together, so now Amaunator is also Lathander, because sure. And in 5e he's yet again a seperate deity, even thought nobody cared about Amaunator to begin with.

It was already present in 3.5e. Being a heretical Amaunator-worshipping Lathanderite was a prestige class in one of the splatbooks. 4e deciding to go with the "Lathander was actually TOO GOOD and committed evil acts" was what sealed the deal for them to bring in a new solar deity.

He's lost all emotion and is nearly a soulless husk. That's what you're supposed to learn if you pay attention to all the stuff in his lab and the dialogue chains in it. Of course turning him into this was supposed to cause him to self reflect on how he had nearly destroyed his people in his mad bid for power but since Irenicus is a salty fucking retard, all it did was make him seethe more and plot revenge. It's actually amazing that all of the suffering and pain everyone goes through could've been avoided if Ellesime had just pulled the trigger and had him executed rather than sparing him because he was her lover.

Basically in 4E they decided to get rid of a ton of the FR zones no one ever used like Maztica and Mulhorand, so they created another planet that traded continents with the main planet. But everyone disliked the new continents and nations even more, so in 5E they reverted it back. That's it. There is no actual explanation for the BG2 characters being significantly weaker in universe, that's just a decision Larian/WotC made so they could forcibly bring back characters whose story was over and done with in BG2.

The game shouldn't even have been called BG3, it should've just been whatever Larian wanted to name their D&D project. BG1-2 are a full and complete saga, with a beginning, middle, and end. Brand recognition was the only reason they forced Larian to use the name, and the old characters as well. And unsurprisingly all the elements linked to the previous games came out as absolute garbage.

What happened is that the franchise was disused for 20 years and 3 D&D editions, and they could either put Minsc and Jaheira in the game under the level cap (12) or take a $100M writedown in real life.
