Been rediscovering my autistic childhood obsession with dragons lately so I need some good dragon games to satisfy me. Ideally where they are the main gameplay focus.

Also, while not the main focus, every single Souls game, from the 2008 original Demon's Souls to Elden Ring, has quite a lot of flying, fire-breathing lizards, often with some ancient lore about creation and/or immortality to go with.

I have been playing the spyro reignited trilogy and it's fun but some people seem to not like the art direction. I didn't play the originals.

The PS1 originals had a much more "dreamscape" feel. Especially the skyboxes.
The remaster has pretty whatever skyboxes, lot more cluttering, some *extremely* dubious redesign of NPC/enemies, and also completely fucked the feel of certain area (lake at sunset turned into lava, isolated island in the middle of the ocean turned into an oil rig thing near the coast, etc).

It's whatever if you are new player, but for anyone who liked the PS1 art direction, remaster was a disappointment.

Baldur's Gate 2 has a few dragons, who tend to be "this is the part where you die repeatedly until you pull out the big cheese" tier.
Neverwinter Night 1 has a bunch too, but the game give you way more tools to "normal" cheese them.

you can become a dragon in the owlcat pathfinder games through a class, wrotr also has an enlightened sage golden dragon end path but it's kind of undercooked compared to the other paths and the entire morality of the path is like batmans where you dont kill so you dont actually solve the deamon problem which I find kinda lame

There's this game I've been following. It's called dragontwin. It's this dragon riding/open world rpg game and it looks sick. I've been keeping up with it on their pisscord but I haven't played it yet because the early access demo is locked behind their patreon.

I tried it a few months ago, but it use really ass and unintuitive controls, it is literally as if the game as made by some aerial autist who, of course, knows better than everyone else, how aerial controls should be. And surprise-surprise - they are retarded
It just really unfun to play it unless you are literally want this """""game""""" so you can wrestle air controls 99% of the time, like, this is the whole gameplay loop
