It might be my favorite in the series, and yes I played all of them, even formula front and ninebreaker. I still miss ACFA's speed and perma flight, I think gen3.5 has the more mech building depth, but overall goddamn it was so good

But it's also not much of an accomplishment.
Like NieR:A, it has you replaying the same missions over again with slightly altered content.
But what I mean by it not having anything on ending E - it doesn't reach anywhere near those heights in terms of its narrative and gameplay ambitions.

With the best minimalist lore in all of FROM gaming, but still, an action game. Nier also is a fully realized vidya anime that works even as a standalone story without gameplay.

It's implied that in some weird way, 621 is inhabiting all of those ACs along with Ayre and presumably other elements in the Coral flow. The fact that she references you two meeting out the new age "together" and prompting your combat mode despite what is clearly not one single threat near the Loader where you "wake up" inside of suggests a cooperative response. Considering the only mechs Ayre has inhabited thus far are a C-Weapon that is specifically built to be inhabited by Coral lifeforms and an Ephemera-frame AC which is specifically built to be unpiloted, it's clear they require something to control them, and while they're all operational, most of these can't be controlled by Coral alone.

Really though my only issue with the ending is that you are back in Loader, I guess the implication is that your old AC got obliterated during Coral Release so you just got the next available AC your coral ghost could get.
