I know I'm late to the party but wow people werent kidding. Playing Part 2 right after Part 1 feels like a completely different universe. 1 hour in and 80% of all dialogue is about teenage drama

Now watch the show and see how much that dumbed down version got praised by new fans that part 2 brought in. Then watch season 2 and see how they turn on it (it’s only slightly different than the game but it isn’t carried by the first game’s cast)

Well I'm playing the game with my gf so we dont have to watch the show her friends are raving about

uhh..no? feels about the same to me, except the combat is better and the game is less buggy. I'm 25 hours in and it's pretty kino. Starting to worry i won't be able to do a no death run after seeing some of the encounters

yes, part 2's story is completely different to part 1's

everything else being so similar (graphics, gameplay, cutscene style) disguises this but ultimately, if you liked part 1 for the story, there is no guarantee that you will like part 2. which is abnormal for sequels

>part 2's story is completely different to part 1's
it's different but i don't hate it so far, i mean part 1 was a road trip and part 2 is a revenge story. I can see why it was controversial and would have liked a different story but this one ain't bad either

>comes to pc
>pirate it and complete it
>it fucking sucked, literally a 3/10 game
>days gone was like 5 billion times better
>even dead rising 3 was a better zombie game with a better story
>ZERO desire to play the second game, even if I didn't know that it got 150% kiked

Yes it is, I just played the first hour 2 hours ago. You meet this guy who says he's OK with Ellie dating his now ex-gf, then you get an apology from barman about kissing a girl, then you switch toba new character with her friend but apparently they were more than friends and she's mad he got another girl pregnant, then you go on a scouting mission with said girl where they talk about Ellie's ex gf and the relationship between new girl and her ex-bf and then flirt, talking about clothes, before finally fighting some infected at a mall.

Part 1 was timeless kino, a classic coming of age story with memorable characters and incredible gameplay setpieces.

It's a shame how much Part 2 falters in gameplay, characters, writing, and themes

Reminder Neil Druckman rejected idea for Tlou 1 was about Tess chasing you down the US for revenge

no need to make such a fuss because you didn't like a pirated game, i'd kinda get it if you bought it, but even then i'd be like "ehh you should know what you're about to play before you do".
>>714223918
in that sense it is different, more exposition than the first game but it makes sense since you're continuing to play with a character from the 1st game after several years have passed, so i guess there's more dialogue than in the first game at start but that's not a bad thing. If you don't like it that's a different thing. There's also more characters now since we get to learn a lot about Abby and who she is. Idk, doesn't bother me because i am actually curious how they crafted the dialogue and the story and how it reaches the end and whether i will think it made sense or not. The action in part 2 is better so that's cool. And if i just want a mindless action zombie game i just play Dying light again

TLoU 1 was impressive when it came out originally on PS3 but it was carried by the tech and execution rather than being some Citizen Kane of video games

There was absolutely nothing impressive about that game. It was just a worse Uncharted.

Good, that sounds dumb. And he was right - revenge is not a good enough excuse to chase someone cross-country during a zombie apocalypse, especially by a woman.

From the image you posted it looks like you’re playing the new versions on PC. Are you playing together on a PC? You should have played the OG Remastered on console anyway, it has a good multiplayer and looks less uncanny than Part 1, and a better feel. Keep in mind that everything after the OG was made by Druckmann alone after the other co-creator left (who was responsible for keeping out the teenage drama writing you’re seeing) and Druckmann actively avoided to give him any credit in the show

TLoU was like Uncharted but better in every possible way. Level design, challenging and memorable gameplay setpieces, enemy variety, encounter design, enemy AI, weapons, animations, story, characters, writing, etc.

Uncharted is just mindless cinematic on-rails setpieces and shooting galleries. The setpieces in TLoU are actually gameplay-centric instead of just being mindless glorified QTEs

I'm not complaining about exposition after a timeskip I'm complaining that said dialogue is ripped from a CW teen drama about who's dating who, as if there wouldnt be a million other things they could talk about. In Tlou 1 (which I started playing just some days ago) the exposition after the time skip were about the politics of the city, the political tensions between the army and the fireflies and the black market underneath.

I can't stand the fans of the show. Nothing worse than yapping faggots running their dick eating lips when they haven't even played/watched/read the source material. Then they try and gaslight you into being a homophobe because you're confused as to why 2 faggot side characters (one that wasn't even there) get an entire fucking episode for absolutely no reason at all.

If they were going to add in bullshit that wasn't in the game then they should've added some flashbacks of Joel and Tommy on the road and them having to do fucked up shit to make ends meet. Or Joel and Tess doing fucked up deals and her getting that old pussy flooded. Hell I would've even taken flashbacks of Ellie with Riley, as that at least has something to do with the actual fucking story.

Buy her a fucking console so you can do some couch coop games (which PC often lacks AFAIK), she seems interested enough and like I said you should never mindlessly play a remake, especially if the OG has more soul

>they should've added some flashbacks of Joel and Tommy
A lot of material for a sequel there was right there. Simply tie in those extensive backgrounds they have (Joel even says they were raiders at some point), throw in the Fireflies for some political plot, but no Neil can’t abandon his ‘simple story, complex characters’ rule (and after UC4 and TLOU2, it really seems like he isn’t that good at complex characters either but just had 1 good idea with part 1)

I was holding out hope that Part 3 might be a prequel and we get Joel/Tommy backstory. Maybe some Tess backstory? Possibly Ellie's mom backstory and the fireflies? But with how the show is shaping up, it's looking like that shit damn sure isn't happening. It's just going to be more gay ass Powerpuff Girl, Girl Power Girl Boss faggotry, courtesy of Captain Faggot himself.

They should have taken an anthology approach. The original game had a perfect ending which part 2 then ruined.

A second game with totally different characters in a different part of the US (or other country), would have been far more interesting.

I really noticed the slowdown when going for a grounded playthrough for the achievements. Tons of segments where you are forced to slow walk and listen to exposition. Interacting with anything makes you slow walk, as soon as combat ends you slow to a crawl. Lots of slowdown. I would be a 10/10 game if it were just a 20 hour long Ellie murder spree through Seattle.

Druckmann stopped giving a shit about making a fun game and realized how much buzz adding trannies and faggots confused sexuality adds to a piece of media.

See also: the stupid fuckin show where they actually got a cool 'manly' actor to be the biggest fucking homo youve ever seen. Fuck Druckmann and anyone that looks like him, and anyone that ever enjoyed anything he was involved with.
