What are your thoughts on the Thompson Submachine Gun in games?

I have never played a game where it doesn't go extremely hard.

As the only SMG with HP ammo they're uniquely suited to slaughtering Cazadores

It's really not, but I think the drum magazine for it would be for legal reasons depending on state. Otherwise, it's a fun gun to shoot and you could theoretically still use it today. Biggest reason the US military stopped using it was because it was expensive as fuck and the grease gun was cheap and easy to distribute in comparison.

games are stupid with ammo. the entire point of an SMG is that they use the same ammo as a sidearm, and 45ACP grows on trees.

I was talking about in games. In most WWII games it’s usually better than the MP40 but ammo is harder to come by since you can’t get it from dead enemies.

I kinda hate the MP40 because it becomes the "default gun" in most WW2 shooters and it has a slow fire rate and fast fire rates are so much more fun and it's just not as aesthetic as the rest of them.

this is something I hate about most war shooters. It's a consequence of them being built around you 'one man army'-ing through missions but still giving you realistic ammo loads. If I as one guy am gonna do the work of a whole company, then give me a whole company's worth of ammo.
