It's about the same graphically. Overall quality of the game maybe isn't quite as good though. Some people say it's the best in the series, I haven't played it much but apparently there was a bad glitch that wiped memory cards.
It has a cool sonic boom effect when characters get KO'd that isn't in any other games in the series.

3 looks really good in native resolution, but it doesn't upscale as well as the GameCube version of 2 or even 1 that came out on Dreamcast because textures are pretty low quality. It had to do with the small amount of VRAM in PS2, even Dreamcast has twice as much and GameCube also has a lot more. Despite this, I love the look of 3. It's probably my favorite SC game. It has that signature late PS2 game look with cool reflection and lighting effects making use of its vector units. 4 is probably my least favorite when it comes to visuals because it was the 7th gen and they followed the stupid trends at the time by using shitty filters and decreasing saturation across the board.

236B is one of her best punishes because it's i16, but it's unsafe in of itself (not that AI is very good at exploiting that on lower difficulty levels). Generally speaking, you're supposed to do 3B 236B from neutral (which comboes) rather than just throw out 236B by itself, unless you just guarded against a move that you can block punish with it.

In soul calibur, you don't need to activate the moves in order. You can activate them first before attacking them. Your final input just needs to be an attack button in order to activate it.

It's not like a 2d fighter where you need to activate it in order, it is very lenient. In order to do IVY's grabs you can do a 360 circle and press a button. You can hide that input using a taunt or another move

Summon suffering is the ultimate psyche out move. If you can pull it off and kick em in the balls a few times they'll start backing up as soon as the match starts. Which just puts them in range for the one that reaches across the stage.

People say that SC2 has "better movement" because in that game it's possible to sidestep almost any move including a decent number of horizontals. It's also not necessary to choose between stepping and standing guard in SC2 because of a bug called stepguarding. Onr thing I like about it that it doesn't have counter in sidestep, only in backstep, but SC1 is even better because it doesn't have movement counters at all and is also missing SC2 bugs like stepguarding or 2G after GI. It has its own bugs, but that's a separate story. SC3 has it's own egregious bugs too.

I'd argue that SC3 was never really "tested" competitively simply because it was less popular than SC3 and many people even refused to try it. VC could be banned in tournaments. I watched SC3 community tourney at CEO a few weeks ago and I didn't notice anything too broken. Have you watched SC4 EVO tournies? Some matches were cancer with people spamming the same moves all over again and getting wins out of it. Hilde wasn't the only problem about that game. I'd argue that if SC4 was acceptable for the competitive community, then SC3 should be too.

Weapon Master Mode has a tutorial that will teach you the very basics of gameplay. You can also look up the manual that came with the physical version of the game. Learn the numpad notation if you haven't already, her BnBs are 3B 236B and 66B+G 1A (not optimal but the optimal version is hard to pull off during a real match). 44[A] 3B 236B and 3AB 236 also comboes. 236B will generally combo with most launchers so throw it every time you see your opponent in the air.

What's the game breaking bug that deletes save data on sc3? I never experienced any bug like that, I had the platinum version on the PS2 (PAL) is it possible it was fixed since it was a re release?

I think so because I have the same version and I never experienced it either. I even tried to trigger it in purpose the way it's described to happen (moving a save with an earlier creation date than the SC3 save) and nothing happened still.

Taki is surprisingly fun. I really like how mobile she is compared to the rest of the cast. Makes dealing with characters that have a long reach less of a pain.

Nice armchair psychology, but I genuinely believe that SC2's gameplay is overrated compared to the games that came before and after. IMO, the main reason why SC2 gained cult status compared to SC1 and SC3 is because it was a multiplat and it sold the best. It's not less buggy than the others, it's not much better balanced compared to others (count the number of Xianghua players at the last Frosty Faustings), and it doesn't even have what I'd describe as the most free movement system in the series (again, counter on backstep). I don't have some sort of vendetta against this game. It's still SoulCalibur, it still plays well. I'm just sick of people overlooking other games in this series and acting like SC2 is the only one to play. I've played every SC game except for Legends and mobile spinoffs and I've played 1, 2 and 6 online for many hours.
