>>714273207Combat is the best in the series. Ironically, AI also handles it the best in the series.
City building is the best, if you liked Civ6's ideas.
Resources allocation is a good idea, it just becomes too much at some point. And you should be able to manually trade them.
Navigable rivers are fun, and its horrible that took so long to implement.
"New World" mechanic is so-so in theory, and bad in practice.
World generation is bad, and the maps are dull.
Game speed is bad, the game is too fast.
UI is bad, and lacks important information, and even basic color coding.
Leader traits are bad design and bad practice and I hate it.
The per-game unlocks tree is so-so design and so-so implementation.
What autists most complain about, the leader-civ distinction, is also both so-so design and so-so practice. It was always the case that the leaders were AI players, and now the AI players can also utilize the mechanic of picking a civilization. You are playing against Attila, who is playing the French civilization. He's the player, with his personal style, and he picked France. Whatever, doesn't bother me.
The automatic upgrading of units, and the transition from one age to the next, is HORRIBLE and a major speed bump and I am sure, a major game abandonment moment. I know they meant it as a "save your game now, continue tomorrow" moment, but I bet people start a new game more of than than load that save. This is the biggest issue with Civ7.
