I thought it was okay. It's not better than IV, and it suffers from repeating dungeons from IV, but I liked the new characters they introduced and the band system. It also suffers from originally being a japaense phone game where it was released in episodes and it suffers heavily from it. The PSP version is probably the best way to play it, but it's a shame IV got that treatment considering how popular it is in Japan. Since we're in the age of remakes my pie-in-the-sky fantasy has always been an FFIV remake that just makes the game graphically on par with the CGI openings and redoes TAY to actually be a full game. Then keep everything else the same. It's never happening, though.

Is it possible to beat IX with low level and no encounters from beginning to end meaning no item steal abuse from normal enemies? I know that Chrono Cross is (since I did that), but that barely a challenge since there are many mandatory fights that raise your stats.

What I like about Rosa is that she's clearly Cecil's lover before the story even starts, knows about his angst over his role in the kingdom given it's recent actions, and pretty much has his back whatever he does while still making sure she's in a position to support him to do the right thing, which he does because he's got a good heart and she knows it.

that's about how long it takes to get to grand pulse where you can finally do side content and when you can give any character any role but unless you're really stubborn and refuse to ever use hope because he's a fag or something the combat "gets good" when it stops forcing you into 2 man teams for no reason and you finally get a full 3 character party. it lets you actually run a com/rav/support paradigm to kill things quickly instead of having to quickly swap to medic to heal at the optimal time to not die without letting the enemy stagger meter run out because the entire combat system is designed around com/rav causing every fight to be an endless slog - which is what's easy to happen with 2 man parties if you're bad and don't read the endless text tutorials that explain the battle system that is designed so any retard can finish the game but you're able to end fights really fast if you know what you're doing
