Did some journo confirm that Zenimax cancelled a new fantasy IP? I can't show anything out of safety for my job but I work in a business that does business with Microsoft that gives me the rare opportunity to look at art from unannounced games years before they're revealed. I KNOW Zenimax Online was working on something that was a sci-fi game (what I saw art of was concept of of a packed city street full of aliens that screamed Prey 2 to me.) I know Roadhouse (the studio composed of the remnants of the studio that was working on the original Prey 2) got absorbed into Zenimax around the time Microsoft did those layoffs that killed Tango Gameworks so when I saw the art I thought that whatever game Roadhouse was working on (which I would only presume was just Prey 2 under a new IP) before getting merged was still carrying on under the Zenimax banner.

If it's some other fantasy IP, then whatever, but it would just be genuinely a little disappointing if the IP I got to see the art for was quietly shuttered, the people behind the original Prey 2 just really cant catch a break man.

Some upper exec in charge of the app store and subscriptions wants more gaming on the platform, so they do a push to get modern games onto the app store and promote Apple Arcade. Simultaneously, the OS team who does not give a single fuck about gaming is depreciating everything not Metal related, killing all 32 bit apps, and generally making it not worth spending the time and effort to port shit.

I think it was Brad Carpenter was the ONLY good head of Microsoft Gaming as it was back in the 90s.(Microsoft Combat Flight Sim, Close Compat, Freelancer, Midtown Madness). The Xbox (while I think teh later 360 blacks ones were good) was basically a shitty PC in its first incarnations and the Red Ring fuck up was enormous and expensive.

Microsoft did better letting game houses independently devlop games, that's how blizzard came to be in teh first place.
