JRPGs suck, they aren't fun gameplay wise, there is no real action to them

you actually control your character, the problem with JRPGs is you just pick something from a menu and the character then proceeds to do it, the only people who enjoy that sort of shit are Southeast Asian males who spam coombait threads here

Well, no. Alot of jrpg fans prefer to think and plan ahead rather than play reactive. They want to set up parties that suit their taste and experience fantasy stories to match. It's just a strategy genre more or less. Personally I like the settings and mechanics of SMT. Some of the FFs i likeAgarest war E33 EO some of the F.E. turn based games are definitely easier to play casually while doing other stuff too there's alot of upsides.

When you press a button on your controller to attack you're just picking an option from your list of buttons and then the character proceds to do it

The worst part of JRPGs are the first 4-5 hours where all the fun spells and effects are locked down and you're lucky if you can play simon says with elemental effects
Also why the fuck are MP items always more expensive than HP potions?

The biggest problem with many JRPGs is that theyโ€™re balanced like shit to the point that spamming the attack command and occasionally healing is the best way to get through 90% of combat encounters.

If JRPGs where more punishing and encouraged you to strategise more, their gameplay would be exponentially better.

What you are talking about is game feel, some genres have a more indirect and abstract control scheme which prevents people with lower IQ from enjoying them, see RTS games.

Play something else, if turn-based doesn't appeal to you. XCOM, Fear & Hunger and Darkest Dungeon are the best, but definitely not for everybody.
